Job search diagnostic
Profile views that never turn into a message
The answer above holds regardless of your situation. The questions below narrow it to the one cause your own answers point at, which is a different and more useful thing than a list of possible reasons.
Why do recruiters view my profile but never message me?
A profile view means you matched a keyword search, which is the hardest part and it is already working. No message means the recruiter looked and something they saw stopped them, and the candidates are narrow: your current title or level did not fit what they were briefed on, your location or authorisation did not work, your profile does not show you are open, or they were sourcing for a pipeline rather than a live role. Views without messages are also simply common — recruiters view many profiles per search and contact a small fraction — so a low ratio is not by itself evidence of a problem.
- The view means the search worked
- You appeared in results for terms a recruiter used. Whatever else is wrong, discoverability is not the bottleneck.
- Openness has to be visible
- Recruiters filter heavily on candidates who signal availability. A profile that gives no indication is frequently skipped in favour of one that does.
- Ratios are naturally low
- A single search returns many profiles and produces few messages. Views far exceeding messages is the normal shape rather than a symptom.
- What cannot be known
- Why a specific recruiter did not write. This page reasons about what is visible on your side, which is the only part you can change anyway.
Source and method
RoleSprint, from the structure of the job-search process rather than from a dataset. Verified 2026-08-30. This page carries no third-party statistics, because the honest ones for this question do not exist in a citable form. What it holds is a decision tree over facts you report about your own search, and the reasoning behind each branch is stated on the page so you can disagree with it. Nothing you select is transmitted anywhere.
Narrow it down
3 questions you can answer without looking anything up. Nothing you select leaves your browser.
What this page will not claim
Stated here rather than in a footer, because the value of a diagnostic is entirely in knowing what it cannot see.
- This page cannot see your profile or who viewed it.
- It cannot tell you any individual recruiter's reason.
- It offers no expected view-to-message ratio, because that number is not meaningfully comparable across fields.
Every outcome this page can reach
Published in full so the tool cannot be a black box. If none of these describes your situation, the page is the wrong one and says so rather than forcing a fit.
Nothing tells them you would answer
Turn on the open-to-work signal, using the recruiters-only setting if you are employed. It changes which of the profiles they viewed they actually contact.
Your headline is not doing the work the view gave it
Rewrite the headline to name the role you want and the two things you are strongest at, in the words postings use. Specific beats appealing here.
Location is likely filtering you out after the view
State your location and, where relevant, that you would relocate or work remotely within the jurisdictions you can. Ambiguity here reads as a no.
This may simply be the normal shape of sourcing
Stop optimising the profile and put the effort into applying directly to well-matched roles. Inbound is a supplement, not a strategy.
What to do next
This page narrows one symptom. The full diagnostic looks at the whole search at once, which matters when more than one thing is wrong.
