• Maintain operational excellence: Improve service reliability through observability, performance metrics, alerting, incident management, and shared on-call responsibilities.
• Deliver features end to end: Take ownership of complex backend initiatives throughout technical design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Promote engineering quality: Champion code quality, automated testing, maintainable architecture, and effective software development practices while mentoring junior engineers and sharing technical knowledge.

• Distributed systems expertise: Demonstrated experience developing fault-tolerant, highly concurrent distributed systems that operate reliably at scale.
• Programming proficiency: Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience with modern backend languages such as Python or Ruby.
• Software engineering best practices: Expertise in system design, unit testing, Git, code reviews, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and automated deployment.
• Database knowledge: Strong experience with relational databases, schema design, and query optimization, particularly PostgreSQL or comparable technologies.
• API development: Understanding of modern web API architectures and technologies, including RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and gRPC.
• Cloud infrastructure: Experience building and operating cloud-based applications using AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure, or comparable services.
• Distributed technologies: Familiarity with microservices, containerization, orchestration, and messaging systems such as Kubernetes, Kafka, RabbitMQ, and Docker.
• Technical leadership: Ability to guide technical decisions, communicate effectively, collaborate across teams, and mentor less experienced engineers without compromising delivery quality.
• Problem-solving skills: Strong analytical abilities, with a proven capacity to investigate complex technical challenges, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions collaboratively.
• Continuous learning: A proactive mindset, adaptability to evolving technologies, and a commitment to improving engineering practices and professional capabilities.
Benefits
• Competitive compensation: Annual base salary ranging from CAD $140,000 to $180,000 , depending on relevant experience, skills, and job-related qualifications.
• Additional compensation: Potential bonus opportunities depending on the position ultimately offered.

• Remote work: Remote opportunity for candidates based in Canada.
• Career development: Opportunities to take ownership of complex technical projects, contribute to architectural decisions, and expand technical leadership skills.
• Collaborative environment: Work alongside cross-functional teams on innovative products and high-impact engineering challenges.
• Inclusive workplace: Join an organization committed to equal opportunity, diversity, and creating an environment where people from different backgrounds can thrive.
• Technical growth: Gain experience with distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, messaging technologies, and scalable personalization platforms.
