About this role
Accountabilities • Ensure reliable software releases: Help maintain a safe, consistent, and efficient release process across multiple deployment environments, minimizing disruptions and improving the overall delivery experience.
• Build release automation tools: Design, develop, and maintain tools, frameworks, and automation solutions that simplify release management, reduce manual work, and improve deployment reliability.
• Modernize release infrastructure: Contribute to the development of new release framework capabilities that replace legacy or custom-built tooling with scalable, maintainable solutions.
• Optimize continuous delivery pipelines: Identify inefficiencies in continuous integration, continuous delivery, and deployment workflows, implementing improvements that accelerate delivery cycles and reduce bottlenecks.
• Enable engineering teams: Collaborate with individual product and engineering teams to define and implement solutions that help them release software faster, more safely, and with greater consistency.
• Develop scalable engineering frameworks: Build reusable components and frameworks that enable application code to scale with demand while maintaining performance and reliability.
• Improve observability and monitoring: Help teams instrument their applications, identify areas that require better visibility, and implement monitoring and alerting systems to track release velocity and operational health.
• Collaborate across infrastructure teams: Work closely with Site Reliability Engineers and other infrastructure specialists to assess the impact of application changes on production systems and user-facing services.
• Communicate release activities: Help maintain clear communication around release schedules, coordinate with relevant stakeholders, and support effective planning across engineering teams.
• Participate in release management: Contribute to the Release Manager rotation, supporting release coordination, operational readiness, and continuous improvement of delivery practices.
• Measure delivery performance: Monitor key performance indicators, particularly Mean Time to Production, to identify opportunities for improving release speed and reliability.
Requirements
• Backend software engineering experience: A strong professional background in backend development, with experience designing, building, and maintaining production-quality software systems.
• Programming proficiency: Professional coding experience in Ruby or Go (Golang). Proficiency in Ruby is a significant advantage, and candidates working primarily with Go must be willing to learn Ruby. Ruby on Rails experience is beneficial but not required.
• Large-scale systems experience: Experience developing or maintaining software systems that operate at scale, with an understanding of performance, reliability, maintainability, and operational requirements.
• CI/CD expertise: Practical experience improving continuous integration, continuous delivery, or continuous deployment pipelines, including the tools, automation, and processes that support them.
• Infrastructure and cloud knowledge: An interest in cloud platforms, containerization technologies, and Infrastructure as Code tools, with a willingness to deepen expertise in infrastructure and operational engineering.
• Observability and monitoring: Familiarity with application or systems observability, including instrumentation, monitoring, alerting, performance analysis, and identifying potential production issues.
• Automation and process improvement: The ability to recognize repetitive tasks and delivery bottlenecks and develop software-based solutions that improve efficiency and reduce operational risk.
• Product development mindset: A focus on building practical, maintainable, and user-oriented components that address real engineering needs and deliver measurable improvements.
• Collaboration and communication: Strong teamwork skills, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to work effectively with backend engineers, Site Reliability Engineers, and cross-functional infrastructure teams.
• Adaptability and continuous learning: A proactive approach to learning new technologies, exploring unfamiliar technical domains, and applying feedback to improve engineering practices.
• Values-driven approach: A commitment to collaborative problem-solving, transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Location availability: Ability to meet the role's Bengaluru, India, location requirements.
Benefits
• Flexible paid time off: Access paid leave to support personal needs, rest, and work-life balance.
• Remote-first work culture: Benefit from a flexible working environment, subject to the specific location and attendance requirements of the position.
• Equity compensation: Eligibility for equity compensation and an employee stock purchase plan, subject to applicable terms.
• Professional development funding: Access a growth and development fund to support technical learning, training, and career progression.
• Parental leave: Benefit from parental leave provisions designed to support employees and their families.
• Employee resource groups: Participate in team member resource groups that encourage inclusion, connection, and community.
• Global collaboration: Work with colleagues across international teams, sharing technical expertise and contributing to large-scale engineering initiatives.
• Career growth opportunities: Develop your expertise in backend engineering, release automation, cloud infrastructure, observability, and software delivery practices.
• Innovative engineering environment: Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and use modern development approaches, including AI-powered tools, to enhance productivity and engineering outcomes.
