About this role
Accountabilities • Own and evolve the architecture of the internal business automation platform, ensuring it remains scalable, maintainable, observable, and reliable.
• Design and maintain robust data models for customers, orders, leads, accounts, and products, using relational databases and appropriate persistence patterns.
• Build, operate, and improve daily synchronization workflows connecting ERP systems, eCommerce stores, and sales tools, including customer and order synchronization, lead scoring, account assignment, and data write-backs.
• Develop and maintain integrations with eCommerce platforms using GraphQL APIs, bulk operations, and webhooks, as well as REST and SOAP APIs for other business systems.
• Improve synchronization reliability by handling API rate limits, missing records, failures, and data inconsistencies while protecting the quality and integrity of write-back operations.
• Build and maintain browser automation workflows using headless browsers in Node.js for processes without suitable APIs, alongside web scraping solutions that may use proxy infrastructure.
• Use AI models to enrich and categorize product data while balancing processing costs, accuracy, and operational efficiency.
• Manage Symfony Messenger queues, scheduled jobs, background workers, and asynchronous processing, ensuring failed messages are diagnosed and resolved promptly.
• Maintain production health through effective monitoring, alerts, operational digests, and runbooks while reducing unnecessary notifications and improving incident response.
• Develop and maintain React-based interfaces for internal users and support the automation of sales engagement and SEO-related workflows.
• Strengthen automated testing across the platform, including unit and end-to-end tests, and ensure reliable execution through CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate closely with the existing developer, take ownership of technical outcomes, and continuously identify opportunities to simplify workflows and improve platform performance.
Requirements
• At least 5 years of professional software development experience, with substantial hands-on experience building applications using PHP and Symfony.
• A degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining production integrations and automation workflows involving third-party systems such as ERP, eCommerce platforms, CRMs, and sales tools.
• Strong software architecture skills, including the ability to design and operate scalable, maintainable, and monitorable applications.
• Deep knowledge of relational data modeling and databases such as PostgreSQL, along with practical experience using Doctrine ORM.
• Expert knowledge of PHP 8 and the Symfony framework.
• Strong experience with caching technologies such as Redis.
• Hands-on experience with Symfony Messenger or comparable message queue systems, including asynchronous processing, background jobs, and worker management.
• Experience integrating systems through REST, GraphQL, and SOAP APIs, with an understanding of webhooks, bulk operations, rate limits, and reliable data synchronization.
• Practical experience with web crawling, web scraping, and headless browser automation using Node.js and tools such as Playwright or Puppeteer.
• Strong knowledge of modern JavaScript frontend development, ideally with React.
• Experience writing and maintaining automated unit tests with PHPUnit and end-to-end tests with Playwright, as well as working with CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong attention to detail, creative problem-solving skills, and the ability to learn unfamiliar systems quickly.
• A proactive, ownership-oriented approach, with the ability to take responsibility for production reliability and deliver meaningful results.
• Additional advantages include familiarity with ERP or eCommerce data models, CRM and sales engagement automation, SEO automation, or the foodservice equipment and commercial supply industry.
• Ability to communicate effectively in a remote team and maintain regular working-hour overlap between 10:00 and 19:00 Paris time.
Benefits
• Fully remote work from anywhere within Europe.
• Full-time position with working hours that overlap with the team between 10:00 and 19:00 Paris time.
• Challenging technical work involving integrations, automation, data architecture, asynchronous systems, and AI-powered workflows.
• The opportunity to shape and improve a business-critical platform used across daily operations.
• A collaborative and professional working environment that encourages creative thinking, new ideas, and continuous development.
• The opportunity to build meaningful working relationships and see the direct impact of your engineering contributions.
• Salary and additional benefits are not specified in the provided job description and can be clarified during the recruitment process.
