About this role
Accountabilities: • Design, develop, test, and deliver improvements to webhook services and APIs, ensuring reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Build, operate, and optimize event-driven systems capable of processing high volumes of traffic while maintaining availability and performance.
• Investigate complex technical issues across distributed services, identify root causes, and implement solutions that improve system reliability and delivery success.
• Enhance monitoring, logging, tracing, and observability tools to make production issues easier to diagnose and resolve.
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams responsible for databases, messaging queues, networking, and compute resources to address dependencies and improve platform performance.
• Support internal engineering teams and external integration use cases by providing technical guidance and helping developers build reliable webhook integrations.
• Contribute to technical direction by preparing architecture proposals, evaluating design alternatives, and developing experiments or prototypes to validate scaling strategies.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and use continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to release changes safely and efficiently.
• Participate in production support, including on-call and first-responder rotations, to investigate incidents, restore service health, and prevent recurring problems.
• Provide technical leadership through mentoring, pair programming, constructive code reviews, and knowledge sharing with fellow engineers.
• Identify opportunities to improve engineering workflows, operational practices, system performance, and development tools.
• Collaborate asynchronously with geographically distributed colleagues, documenting decisions clearly and maintaining effective communication across teams.
• Contribute to a customer-focused engineering culture that values ownership, experimentation, continuous learning, inclusion, and collective success.
Requirements:
• At least 6 years of experience in software engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline, with demonstrated experience maintaining and delivering production software in one or more programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, Rust, or Python. Equivalent qualification and experience pathways include:
• An associate degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related field, combined with at least 5 years of relevant professional experience.
• A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related field, combined with at least 4 years of relevant professional experience.
• A master's degree in a relevant technical discipline, combined with at least 2 years of relevant professional experience.
• A doctorate in a relevant technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years of experience maintaining highly available, high-volume platforms.
• At least 2 years of experience building and maintaining event-driven systems.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including system design, debugging, testing, code quality, and production support.
• Experience with general-purpose programming languages, particularly Go, Ruby, or comparable technologies, and scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
• Understanding of distributed systems, service-to-service communication, event processing, scalability, fault tolerance, and reliability engineering.
• Experience with cloud environments and/or Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) technologies and concepts.
• Familiarity with messaging, queuing, or streaming technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Experience working with relational databases and/or distributed database systems.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, source control, and modern software development practices.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues across service boundaries and collaborate with infrastructure teams to resolve complex technical dependencies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document technical decisions, explain complex concepts, and collaborate effectively in a remote environment.
• Experience working with geographically distributed teams and an understanding of asynchronous collaboration practices.
• A proactive, ownership-driven mindset, with the ability to take responsibility for outcomes, learn from experimentation, and continuously improve systems and processes.
• Strong collaboration and mentoring skills, including a willingness to support colleagues through code reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing.
• A customer-focused approach, with a commitment to delivering reliable, secure, and maintainable services that meet developer needs.
• An inclusive and growth-oriented mindset, with the ability to adapt to evolving technical challenges and contribute positively to a diverse engineering team.
