About this role
Accountabilities • Full-Stack Development: Design, develop, and maintain software applications using Ruby on Rails and React, ensuring high-quality implementation across the stack.
• Microservices Engineering: Build, support, and troubleshoot microservice-based systems, understanding how individual services interact within the broader platform.
• Data Flow and Integration: Trace data across services, message queues, event streams, third-party integrations, and analytical data warehouses to identify issues and ensure reliable information exchange.
• Technical Ownership: Take responsibility beyond individual tickets by understanding the wider system architecture, identifying dependencies, and considering how neighboring services affect overall functionality.
• Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Investigate cross-service issues, identify root causes, and keep work progressing when dependencies or blockers arise.
• Technical Decision-Making: Contribute to architectural and engineering discussions, raise potential risks and gaps early, and recommend practical solutions.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with client teams and other engineers in an embedded, long-term delivery environment, helping shape product direction and technical outcomes.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, observability, service boundaries, and engineering workflows as the platform evolves.
Requirements:
• Professional Experience: At least 8 years of relevant professional experience, with strong commercial expertise in full-stack software engineering.
• Ruby on Rails: Extensive hands-on experience developing and maintaining applications using Ruby and the Rails framework.
• React: Strong commercial experience building and maintaining front-end applications with React.
• Microservices Architecture: Practical experience building, maintaining, and troubleshooting microservice-based systems.
• Systems Thinking: Ability to understand end-to-end data flows and dependencies across services, message queues, event streams, third-party integrations, and data warehouses.
• Ownership and Initiative: A proactive approach to engineering, with the ability to investigate problems independently, recognize dependencies, and take responsibility for outcomes beyond assigned tasks.
• Adaptability: Comfort working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tickets, reprioritizing work when necessary, and maintaining progress despite blockers.
• Communication: Ability to ask thoughtful questions, communicate technical risks clearly, and collaborate effectively with engineers and stakeholders.
• English Proficiency: Upper-intermediate English or higher.
• Additional Advantages: Experience with Kafka or other event-streaming technologies such as RabbitMQ, SQS/SNS, or Pub/Sub; Snowflake or comparable analytical data warehouses such as BigQuery or Redshift; large-scale third-party API integration and debugging; observability tools for distributed tracing and centralized logging; or service decomposition and monolith-to-microservices migrations.
Benefits:
• Work Model: Fully remote, with the flexibility to work from the location that suits you best within the engagement arrangements.
• Contract Type: B2B contract.
• Working Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Brazil Time (BRT).
• Flexible Time Off: A flexible policy allowing up to 40 unpaid days off per year; time away from work is encouraged.
• Professional Growth: Opportunities to develop your career in a growing organization and take on increasing technical responsibility.
• Technical Influence: Work with clients who value engineering input and involve engineers in architectural, technical, and product decisions.
• Meaningful Project: Contribute to a clinical trial data platform focused on improving data quality, reducing operational burdens, and supporting patient safety.
• Collaborative Culture: Participate in an environment that values diversity, inclusion, social engagement, and charitable initiatives.
• Benefits Exclusions: Paid time off, national holidays, medical insurance, and similar benefits are not included in the B2B compensation arrangement. Contractors are responsible for arranging their own benefits.
