About this role

Accountabilities: • Own Legal intake, triage, matter tracking, workflow administration, and status reporting, ensuring requests and matters are properly documented and followed through.

• Identify opportunities to streamline repetitive legal work through standardized processes, self-service resources, automation, and scalable workflows.

• Serve as the operational owner of the contract lifecycle management system and help define requirements for future legal technology solutions.

• Maintain corporate records, governance calendars, entity administration, and documentation supporting board and committee meetings, filings, and related activities.

• Maintain a consolidated compliance calendar covering policies, training, audits, certifications, filings, assessments, and recurring reviews.

• Coordinate compliance projects across Legal, Security, Engineering, Product, Finance, People, and other operational stakeholders.

• Support legal and administrative components of SOC 2, CMMC, privacy, accessibility, AI governance, and similar compliance initiatives.

• Maintain policy inventories, review schedules, approval records, version histories, and employee acknowledgment processes.

• Develop and maintain Legal playbooks, standard operating procedures, decision trees, training materials, precedents, and internal guidance.

• Coordinate cross-functional Legal projects by documenting decisions, owners, deadlines, dependencies, and follow-up actions.

• Act as a responsive point of contact for questions related to Legal processes, contract status, signatures, intake, records, and documentation.

• Train employees on Legal systems, processes, and workflows while promoting consistent adoption across the organization.

• Support outside-counsel operations, including tracking budgets, invoices, matters, and relevant performance information.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in legal operations, senior paralegal work, corporate governance, contract operations, compliance operations, or a related field, ideally within an in-house technology, software, or AI environment.

• Demonstrated ability to design, improve, and own operational processes rather than simply administer established procedures.

• Hands-on experience with contract lifecycle management or matter-management systems, contract repositories, metadata, renewals, and corporate governance recordkeeping.

• Experience tracking outside-counsel budgets, invoices, matter information, or related legal spend data.

• Strong project management skills and the ability to coordinate complex initiatives across multiple functions and stakeholders.

• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and judgment, including the ability to recognize when an issue should be escalated to an attorney.

• Ability to handle confidential and privileged information with appropriate discretion and care.

• Comfortable working autonomously, prioritizing competing demands, and keeping Legal leadership appropriately informed.

• Experience with legal and business applications such as SpotDraft, Ironclad, DocuSign, HubSpot, Carta, or comparable platforms is valuable.

• A paralegal certificate, project management credential, or legal operations certification is preferred.

• Experience supporting privacy, security, AI, or accessibility compliance programs, including frameworks or requirements such as SOC 2, CMMC, or GDPR, is preferred.

• Experience supporting an international organization or a venture-backed Series B/C company is an advantage.

• Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% annually for conferences, off-site meetings, and other business-related events.

• Comfortable participating in on-site interviews and/or in-person onboarding when required.

Benefits

• Base salary of $126,000–$157,500 USD , with equity opportunities.

• Compensation and equity may vary based on location, experience, qualifications, and business needs.

• Full health, dental, and vision benefits.

• Extremely flexible paid time off and parental leave policies.

• Office closure during the week of Christmas and New Year’s.

• Monthly wellness stipend.

• Annual Learning & Development stipend to support professional growth.

• Access to global office locations and coworking memberships for remote team members.

• Visa support where applicable.

• Transportation stipend for eligible San Francisco-based onsite employees.

• Daily lunch and dinner for eligible San Francisco-based onsite employees.

• Open and inclusive work environment.

• Opportunity to work with a collaborative, mission-driven team on advanced AI technology.

• Remote-first work environment with support for distributed team members.
