AI Engineer, Cloud Infrastructure

THE ROLE

As an AI Engineer in Cloud Infrastructure at Redpine, you will design and own the foundation for a new type of AI platform, one where data access, compliance, and real-time retrieval are first-class concerns.

We are a small, focused and highly technical team based in Stockholm, working across infrastructure, data, and AI. The same people designing systems are building, shipping, and running them. Feedback loops are short and ownership is direct. We are early enough that many of the core systems are still being built. You will not be scaling someone else's architecture. You will be defining it.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Design and build the infrastructure powering our data platform and APIs.

- Work on systems that serve high-quality data to AI models and agents in real time.

- Develop abstractions that make complex data access simple for developers.

- Build for a new category of workloads, where retrieval, latency, and data quality matter as much as compute.

- Make architectural decisions that will define how the platform scales globally.

- Take ownership of reliability and performance as the system evolves.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

- Production experience building data infrastructure: vector database, object storage at scale, streaming/ingestion, data transfer infrastructure and pipelines.

- A strong understanding of cloud platforms and modern infra tooling.

- Deep experience with Kubernetes or similar orchestration systems.

- A strong interest in working on systems where data, not just compute, is the core constraint.

- The judgment and ability to operate in an environment where direction evolves quickly and many problems are not yet well-defined.

- Experience in monitoring, observability, and security is a plus.

WHY THIS ROLE

This is closer to building Spotify in the early days of music streaming than running a traditional cloud platform. Your work will define whether we build a foundational data layer or a commodity cloud service.

You will be working on questions like:

- How should AI systems access data that isn't public?

- What does a real-time, API-native data layer for agents look like?

- How do you make licensed data as easy to use as scraped data, but better?

- Based at Redpine HQ in central Stockholm. Office-first, with real autonomy for deep-work days and life admin.

- Requires a valid Swedish work permit or similar eligibility. Relocation support available.

If models were the first wave of AI, and compute the second, we are building the data layer that comes next. Only a small fraction of the world's data is on the open internet. The rest, high-quality, domain-specific, often critical, sits behind paywalls, in databases, or with rights holders. Redpine is building the infrastructure to unlock it.

We provide AI builders and autonomous agents with access to licensed, high-quality, multimodal data through a unified platform and API. The goal is simple: make AI systems more accurate, more useful, and grounded in real-world information.

You will work closely with the founding team, including Anders (ex-partner at VC, McKinsey) and David (ex-tech and product leader at Spotify, Zettle, and Lunar). We are backed by Nordic Ninja, Node VC, and Luminar, alongside angels from OpenAI, Spotify, and Perplexity.
