About this role
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a founding engineering role at an early-stage AEC tech startup rethinking BIM authoring from the ground up for AI agents. You will work directly with the founders to build the geometry and data core of a new tool, alongside generative design systems that understand building codes. With no CTO in place, the right person has a clear path to owning that seat.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Design and build the geometry and data core of a new BIM authoring tool, written from scratch for AI agents.
- Build agents that plan and edit real building models end-to-end.
- Develop generative design features that respect building codes and client constraints.
- Work across the stack wherever the team needs you most each week.
- Help shape early technical architecture and, potentially, grow into the CTO role.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Shipped production software; one to two years of industry experience is fine if you have been building serious personal or open-source projects for years, more experience is always welcome.
- Hands-on experience with 3D geometry or CAD: geometry kernels, B-rep or mesh representations, CAD APIs, IFC, or Revit (mechanical CAD background counts).
- Daily, practical work with LLMs and AI agents, not just side projects.
- Generalist mindset: comfortable moving across the stack and getting productive fast in unfamiliar areas.
- Startup or founder experience; long tenures at large CAD or engineering corporations are typically not the right fit.
- Fluent English; no other language required.
- Based in Europe (including Switzerland and the UK), or willing to relocate.
- Nice to have: AEC or BIM domain knowledge (IFC, Revit API, Rhino/Grasshopper), experience with Python, PyTorch, TypeScript, or three.js, exposure to generative or multimodal models over 3D or visual data, or prior experience leading engineers or owning architecture decisions.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Salary starting from €100,000 per year, with additional upside for candidates who step into the CTO role. Stock options included. Visa sponsorship is not available.
LOCATION
Fully remote across Europe (Switzerland and the UK included). The team is distributed across multiple countries and time zones. The company's home base is in Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg, Germany.
