About this role
Our client, a rapidly growing private cloud company at the forefront of real-time analytics, data warehousing and AI workloads, has exclusively engaged Solutus Legal Search to recruit a Senior Counsel to support its expanding EMEA business. Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel, this is a director-level individual contributor role within the company’s EMEA commercial legal team. This attorney will independently lead complex, high-value transactions across the region, serve as a trusted advisor to sales leadership and work closely with legal colleagues on regional priorities. The role calls for strong negotiating skills, sound commercial judgement and the ability to guide cross-functional teams through challenging deal decisions. This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, collaborative legal team as the company expands internationally and its enterprise relationships become increasingly sophisticated. The role offers meaningful business influence, substantial autonomy and the opportunity to help build a commercial legal function for scale.
Responsibilities • Independently lead complex, cross-border software and SaaS negotiations with enterprise customers, partners and resellers across EMEA, with opportunities to support APAC as the business grows.
• Partner closely with sales leadership on strategic transactions, advising on deal structure, negotiation strategy and risk allocation to achieve practical commercial outcomes.
• Lead cross-functional discussions on challenging contractual issues, align stakeholders and exercise sound judgement about when to resolve matters independently or escalate.
• Work with the broader Legal team and business stakeholders on privacy, security, regulatory and other issues affecting regional transactions and expansion.
• Develop playbooks, templates, training and contracting workflows that strengthen the company’s negotiating approach and enable efficient growth.
Qualifications
• Law degree and qualification to practise in the UK, with strong academic credentials.
• At least seven years of relevant legal experience, including strong law firm training and in-house experience at a high-growth technology company.
• Demonstrated ability to independently own and close sophisticated enterprise software and SaaS transactions across multiple jurisdictions, including customer, partner and reseller agreements.
• Strong command of software licensing and related commercial issues, including privacy, security, intellectual property and open-source software.
• Excellent commercial judgement and the confidence to navigate difficult negotiations, make clear recommendations and balance legal risk with business objectives.
• Demonstrated leadership through influencing senior stakeholders, guiding cross-functional deal teams and building trusted relationships with Sales and customers.
• A collaborative, proactive approach and the ability to manage competing priorities with minimal oversight. Experience supporting an infrastructure SaaS company is a plus.
This role offers a competitive base salary and equity package, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Solutus Legal Search has been exclusively retained for this search. Resumes submitted directly to our client will be forwarded to Solutus for review. Ref. 977-SLS

RoleSprint is not the employer and not a recruiter. Applications are made on the employer’s own site and never reach us; what RoleSprint does is help you decide whether a role is worth your time and prepare for it if it is.
