About this role

Accountabilities: • Proactively identify and source software businesses that align with the organization’s acquisition and investment objectives.

• Build and manage a robust M&A pipeline through research, prospect identification, and targeted outreach.

• Lead outbound prospecting initiatives and initiate conversations with business owners, founders, and senior executives.

• Build trust and establish strong professional relationships with key decision-makers throughout the acquisition process.

• Nurture long-term relationships and position the organization as a credible and trusted acquisition partner.

• Develop and test new outreach strategies, processes, and approaches to improve pipeline generation and engagement.

• Take ownership of assigned goals and independently manage day-to-day business development activities.

• Use the M&A CRM to track prospects, manage pipeline activity, maintain accurate records, and support data-driven decision-making.

• Monitor outreach results and use available data to refine prospecting strategies and improve effectiveness.

• Represent the organization professionally in conversations with senior stakeholders and prospective acquisition targets.

• Follow opportunities through complex engagement cycles with persistence, organization, and a results-oriented mindset.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of experience in M&A is preferred.

• Demonstrated experience in business development, relationship management, prospecting, or another target-driven commercial environment.

• Strong business acumen and an understanding of business operations, enabling you to quickly assess potential opportunities.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and credibility with founders, owners, and C-suite executives.

• Strong executive presence, professionalism, and maturity when engaging with senior decision-makers.

• Highly proactive and self-motivated, with a proven ability to take initiative and work independently.

• Goal-oriented mindset with the resilience and persistence required to manage outreach and complex relationship-building activities.

• Entrepreneurial approach and willingness to experiment with new methods and improve established processes.

• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple prospects and priorities effectively.

• Comfortable using CRM systems and other digital tools to manage pipelines, activities, and relationship data.

• Positive, adaptable, and collaborative approach, while remaining accountable for individual results.

• Ability to articulate ideas clearly, assess opportunities thoughtfully, and maintain professional relationships over the long term.
