Senior Software Engineer - Core Platform (Ruby/Rails)

Accountabilities: • Own and drive software projects from conception through engineering design, development, automated testing, deployment, and rollout.

• Build robust, secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions across the full technology stack, including frontend, backend, databases, and infrastructure.

• Develop and enhance foundational platform capabilities supporting authentication, onboarding and activation, notifications, APIs, and end-to-end user experiences.

• Break down complex technical initiatives and defined epics into actionable milestones and user stories that enable efficient team execution.

• Maintain a high standard for code quality, scalability, reliability, and maintainability through automated testing, code reviews, technical pairing, and sound engineering practices.

• Contribute to team-level technical solutions, architectural decisions, and new engineering initiatives.

• Collaborate closely with engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver secure and effective platform capabilities.

• Mentor, coach, and provide actionable feedback to other engineers, helping strengthen technical skills and overall team effectiveness.

• Identify opportunities to improve development velocity, system reliability, and engineering workflows through responsible use of AI-assisted development tools.

• Contribute to the evolution of platform architecture and engineering practices as systems and customer needs scale.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of professional experience developing complex and scalable software products.

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails, with a strong focus on writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code.

• Demonstrated full-stack development experience, including JavaScript, CSS, and modern Rails frontend technologies such as Stimulus, Turbo, and Hotwire.

• Strong knowledge of Linux-based infrastructure, relational and analytical databases such as PostgreSQL and ClickHouse, and integrations with external APIs.

• Proven ability to take complex epics or initiatives and translate them into clear milestones, actionable stories, and executable engineering plans.

• Experience working collaboratively in Agile environments, including pairing, code reviews, mentoring, and iterative delivery.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to independently navigate complex technical challenges and make sound engineering decisions.

• Proactive and responsible approach to AI-assisted software development, with the ability to use AI tools to improve productivity and code quality while maintaining appropriate engineering judgment.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively within a distributed engineering team.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• Experience with AWS cloud environments is preferred.

• Experience working within a Ruby on Rails monolith is a plus.

• Interest in building reusable platform capabilities and improving developer and customer experiences is advantageous.

• Familiarity or eagerness to work with Tailwind UI is helpful.
