Market Curation Editor (Sports)

Accountabilities: • Review daily queues of system-generated sports markets against defined completion deadlines, evaluating each market associated with an event.

• Assess candidate markets for factual accuracy, clarity, timing, and whether their resolution criteria can be reliably adjudicated using authoritative sources.

• Verify market opening and closing times against scheduled events, including adjustments for delays and other changes.

• Apply appropriate league-specific settlement conventions covering overtime, shootouts, postponements, abandonments, minimum-play requirements, and official statistical corrections.

• Review markets against applicable content policies and community standards, escalating ambiguous or sensitive cases when necessary.

• Approve, edit, or reject candidate markets and record structured, accurate reasons for every decision.

• Rewrite questions and resolution language to make them precise, unambiguous, and aligned with how sports fans naturally discuss events.

• Create timestamped clarifications when ambiguity arises during live markets and resolve settlement exceptions that automated data feeds cannot address.

• Proactively monitor live markets for visible issues and track schedules, team news, breaking developments, and relevant social channels to identify events or markets missed by automated systems.

• Participate in regular calibration reviews to maintain consistency with editorial guidelines and other curators.

• Contribute to maintaining high standards for decision quality, reason quality, market wording, and proactive market discovery.

Requirements:

• At least 3 years of experience in sports trading, sports data operations, sports journalism, editorial work, or a comparable role requiring strong current sports expertise.

• Demonstrable and up-to-date knowledge of professional and collegiate sports across major leagues, with an active understanding of current events rather than solely historical knowledge.

• Strong familiarity with sports culture, breaking news, trades, free agency, and sports-focused social media.

• Working knowledge of official rules and settlement conventions across major sports leagues, including authoritative sources for results and statistics.

• Proven ability to make sound judgments on complex cases involving suspended or abandoned events, statistical corrections, disputed outcomes, and ambiguous official rulings.

• Ability to quickly interpret authoritative sources and reach clear, defensible conclusions.

• Exceptional written communication and editorial precision, with the ability to write rules and resolution criteria that remain unambiguous after an outcome is known.

• Comfortable working within established policies and guidelines, with the judgment to escalate uncertain situations rather than make unsupported assumptions.

• Highly organized and able to consistently meet strict daily deadlines.

• Flexible availability for evening, overnight, and weekend work when required by live sporting events.

• Experience with prediction markets, sportsbooks, exchanges, or daily fantasy sports platforms is a plus.

• Background in sports journalism or experience developing guidelines, style guides, rulebooks, or annotation standards is desirable.

• Familiarity with content policies, moderation frameworks, or editorial standards is an advantage.
