About this role
Accountabilities: In this role, you will take ownership of complex engineering projects, contribute to the evolution of card products, and ensure the reliability of critical financial infrastructure. Your main responsibilities will include:
• Lead engineering projects from initial concept and technical specification through implementation, testing, and launch, collaborating with product managers, engineering managers, technical leads, and teammates.
• Develop a strong understanding of card payment processes, including authorization, clearing, settlement, and dispute management, and apply this knowledge to technical decisions.
• Build and improve full-stack features spanning customer-facing card experiences and backend systems responsible for financial transactions and money movement.
• Maintain operational excellence across critical systems by improving reliability, observability, monitoring, and incident prevention.
• Contribute to the architecture and evolution of systems that support card issuance, physical card delivery, spending controls, card lifecycle management, settlement, and reporting.
• Mentor other engineers and strengthen engineering quality through design discussions, code reviews, technical guidance, and collaborative problem-solving.
• Partner with teams across product, design, operations, risk, compliance, sales, and other functions to deliver cohesive solutions.
• Balance the development of new features with the ongoing maintenance, accuracy, and reliability of existing functionality.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate brings strong full-stack engineering expertise, sound architectural judgment, and a product-oriented mindset. You should be comfortable working on complex systems where technical decisions have direct implications for customer experience and financial accuracy. Key qualifications include:
• Extensive full-stack software engineering experience, with the ability to work across frontend and backend systems.
• A strong product mindset, systems-thinking capabilities, and a proven ability to deliver projects from planning through production.
• Experience making architectural decisions for complex systems and clearly explaining technical reasoning, trade-offs, and long-term implications.
• A strong focus on delivering customer value while maintaining the stability, performance, and reliability of existing features.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to correctness in systems where failures can have significant financial consequences.
• Clear communication skills, comfort navigating ambiguity, and a collaborative approach to working across teams.
• Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to technical standards, design reviews, and code quality.
• Familiarity with Haskell and TypeScript, or a willingness and ability to learn these technologies.
• Experience in fintech, payments, or card issuing is an advantage but is not required.
Benefits:
The total rewards package combines competitive compensation with equity and additional employee benefits. Offer details depend on experience, expertise, geographic location, and internal pay equity.
