About this role

Accountabilities: • Design engineering assessment tasks: Develop realistic mechanical engineering challenges based on product development, manufacturing, and industrial engineering workflows to evaluate the capabilities of advanced AI models.

• Create and review CAD designs: Produce and assess 2D technical drawings, 3D CAD models, mechanical assemblies, and engineering specifications, ensuring compliance with design requirements.

• Evaluate mechanical design solutions: Develop tasks involving component design, material selection, tolerance analysis, and mechanical optimization to assess engineering accuracy and practical feasibility.

• Perform engineering calculations: Prepare and validate calculations related to stress, strain, forces, thermal behavior, and overall mechanical performance, ensuring technical soundness and traceability.

• Analyze engineering simulations: Interpret and assess simulation outputs, including finite element analysis (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and manufacturing simulations, where applicable.

• Identify technical issues: Detect design inconsistencies, flawed assumptions, manufacturing limitations, tolerance conflicts, and potential mechanical failures.

• Develop reference solutions: Create technically accurate model answers supported by traceable calculations, clear engineering explanations, and well-documented assumptions.

• Validate AI-generated engineering outputs: Review AI-produced designs, calculations, technical documentation, and simulation interpretations for accuracy, feasibility, and alignment with project specifications.

• Collaborate on evaluation frameworks: Work with technical contributors to develop reproducible engineering tasks, establish objective evaluation criteria, and improve the quality of AI training and assessment data.

Requirements:

• Educational qualifications: A bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.

• Relevant professional experience: Substantial hands-on experience in mechanical design, product development, manufacturing engineering, or engineering analysis.

• Mechanical engineering expertise: Strong understanding of mechanical systems, engineering materials, manufacturing processes, and fundamental engineering principles.

• CAD proficiency: Practical experience with computer-aided design software such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Fusion 360, CATIA, or Siemens NX.

• Technical drawing interpretation: Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, component assemblies, and design requirements accurately.

• Engineering calculations and validation: Experience performing mechanical calculations, assessing design performance, and validating engineering decisions against technical requirements.

• Analytical problem-solving: Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail, with the ability to identify technical inconsistencies, evaluate design trade-offs, and propose sound engineering solutions.

• Technical documentation: Ability to document engineering workflows, explain technical decisions, and communicate assumptions and conclusions clearly and systematically.

• English proficiency: Strong written English skills to prepare technical explanations, document assessment tasks, and collaborate effectively with a distributed team.

• Advanced academic background: A master's degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is an advantage.

• Simulation expertise: Familiarity with FEA, CFD, or other engineering simulation tools is desirable.

• Industry standards knowledge: Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), manufacturing tolerances, and applicable engineering standards is beneficial.

• Manufacturing technologies: Knowledge of CNC machining, additive manufacturing, industrial automation, or related production technologies is a plus.

• Programming and automation: Familiarity with Python, MATLAB, or tools for automating engineering workflows is advantageous.

• AI assessment experience: Previous experience evaluating AI-generated technical outputs or developing engineering assessments is a strong advantage.

Benefits:

• Competitive hourly compensation: Earn between $30 and $60 USD per hour, depending on your expertise and experience.

• Fully remote opportunity: Work remotely from Brazil in a flexible, location-independent environment.

• Part-time contract: Approximately 20 hours per week, allowing flexibility alongside other professional commitments.

• Defined project timeline: An initial two-month engagement, with the possibility of extension depending on project requirements.

• Immediate start: Opportunity to begin contributing as soon as possible.

• Meaningful technical impact: Apply your mechanical engineering expertise to improve the accuracy, reliability, and practical capabilities of advanced AI systems.

• Challenging technical work: Engage with complex engineering problems involving CAD, mechanical design, manufacturing, calculations, and simulations.

• Cross-functional collaboration: Work with technical contributors to develop high-quality engineering assessments and robust evaluation methodologies.

• Professional development: Gain exposure to emerging AI technologies and contribute to the evolution of AI-assisted engineering workflows.
