About this role

Accountabilities • Lead and develop the engineering team: Manage, coach, and support engineers specializing in security architecture, cloud infrastructure, Microsoft 365, and AI enablement. Plan team capacity, recruitment, budgets, vendor spending, and cloud costs.

• Establish scalable engineering operations: Implement runbooks, documentation, on-call rotations, and operational routines. Manage intake, prioritization, sprint planning, delivery reporting, and stakeholder communication.

• Own cloud and enterprise platform operations: Oversee engineering delivery and production operations across Azure environments, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and the enterprise AI platform, ensuring appropriate security controls, integrations, and operational standards.

• Deliver and transition critical platforms: Lead the launch and operational handover of the open enrollment training platform from its external vendor to the internal engineering team. Oversee infrastructure supporting the Azure data platform, including Data Factory, Blob Storage, and Power BI capacity.

• Advance security and governance: Partner with the Security Architect to strengthen security maturity and ensure engineering changes comply with ISO 27001 controls and established change-management policies.

• Manage external engineering partners: Serve as the technical counterpart to managed-service providers and platform vendors, establish clear delivery expectations, and transition outsourced responsibilities to internal teams wherever appropriate.

• Collaborate across enterprise technology: Work with systems, data, Salesforce, and integration specialists on infrastructure dependencies, security, integrations, and enterprise initiatives, including the NetSuite migration.

• Measure delivery and operational performance: Establish a visible delivery cadence, report progress, risks, and milestones to IT leadership and governance stakeholders, and ensure the service desk can effectively support newly delivered solutions.

Requirements

• Professional experience: At least eight years in engineering or infrastructure roles, including three or more years managing engineers with direct reports.

• Cloud and production operations: Strong hands-on knowledge of cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure, or AWS, and experience operating customer-facing production systems, including incident management, on-call support, capacity planning, and disaster recovery.

• Platform transition experience: Demonstrated success taking over a vendor-built platform and bringing its operations in-house.

• Enterprise technology expertise: Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Entra ID administration within an enterprise environment, along with an understanding of security architecture and compliance controls.

• Security and compliance: Experience working within an ISO 27001 or SOC 2 control environment and the ability to collaborate effectively with security specialists on governance and risk reduction.

• Vendor and service management: Experience managing external engineering teams or managed-service providers against defined outcomes, including planning and executing transitions to internal ownership.

• Delivery and change management: Familiarity with IT service management, ITIL or equivalent practices, formal change control, and agile delivery methodologies.

• Leadership and communication: Strong people-management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate technical risks, trade-offs, and recommendations clearly to executives and business partners.

• Preferred background: Experience in professional services, training, or consulting environments where technology supports both internal operations and client-facing delivery.

• Additional advantage: Familiarity with structured change-management practices. Knowledge of the Prosci Methodology is beneficial but not required.

Benefits

• Salary: Projected annual compensation of $160,000–$190,000 USD.

• Remote flexibility: Fully remote position available within the United States, supported by a predominantly virtual work culture.

• Paid time off: Generous flexible paid time off, paid holidays, and volunteer time.

• Healthcare and protection: Medical, dental, and vision insurance, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, and pet insurance.

• Retirement savings: 401(k) plan with employer matching.

• Learning and development: Access to LinkedIn Learning and opportunities to develop professionally.

• Global collaboration: Opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across locations and participate in employee-led interest and resource groups.

• Team connection: Opportunities to attend local or market-wide in-person gatherings and connect with colleagues beyond the virtual workplace.
