About this role

Accountabilities: • Lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable, secure, and resilient backend services and APIs supporting enterprise property tax workflows.

• Build AI-powered services, orchestration pipelines, and intelligent data extraction capabilities to automate property tax processing and compliance operations.

• Modernize complex enterprise workflows by replacing manual data ingestion, rules-based processing, and fragmented integrations with reliable, automated services.

• Design and implement the foundational architecture for agentic property tax workflows, including system decomposition, service boundaries, orchestration mechanisms, and production deployment strategies.

• Deliver production-ready AI-enabled capabilities, such as automated document classification, intelligent information extraction, and automated validation of tax return preparation.

• Integrate AI-assisted development tools into coding, testing, refactoring, documentation, and continuous integration processes to improve engineering productivity and delivery efficiency.

• Strengthen continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, automated testing frameworks, monitoring, observability, and production reliability.

• Establish and promote automated testing standards, targeting more than 80% unit and integration test coverage for new services where technically appropriate.

• Conduct code reviews and evaluate technical designs to improve maintainability, security, scalability, reliability, and long-term platform health.

• Define reusable architectural patterns, API contracts, and responsible AI guardrails, ensuring that AI-generated outputs are evaluated for correctness, security, maintainability, and customer impact.

• Collaborate with product managers, software architects, and cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business objectives, customer needs, and measurable performance outcomes.

• Mentor and coach engineers, sharing best practices in distributed systems architecture, code quality, AI-assisted development, and responsible AI implementation.

• Identify opportunities to apply AI to business challenges, improve development cycle times, strengthen quality assurance, and reduce operational risks.

• Establish measurable engineering improvements, including faster delivery from task creation to production deployment, greater workflow automation, and improved team performance.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.

• At least 8 years of professional software engineering experience designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining distributed enterprise platforms.

• Strong hands-on experience with C# and .NET for backend application and service development.

• Proven experience designing and building resilient REST or GraphQL APIs, asynchronous processing systems, and microservices architectures.

• Strong knowledge of relational databases, particularly SQL Server or PostgreSQL, including data modeling and the management of complex transactional systems.

• Experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS), containerized applications, and infrastructure-as-code practices.

• Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, software delivery practices, and production monitoring.

• Demonstrated experience using AI-assisted engineering tools or developing AI-enabled services that improve productivity, software quality, operational efficiency, or customer outcomes.

• Ability to identify practical AI use cases and integrate AI capabilities into production systems with appropriate security controls, evaluation methods, responsible-use principles, and human oversight where necessary.

• Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, distributed systems, API contracts, and engineering best practices for scalable enterprise applications.

• Proven ability to make sound technical decisions, balance trade-offs, simplify complex problems, and translate business requirements into reliable engineering solutions.

• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across geographically distributed teams.

• Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities, including the ability to provide constructive feedback, share knowledge, and raise engineering standards without relying on formal management authority.

• A proactive, accountable, and results-oriented mindset, with a commitment to continuous improvement, technical excellence, and measurable business impact.

• Curiosity and willingness to continuously learn about emerging AI technologies, evaluate new tools critically, and share effective practices with colleagues.

• Application requirement: CVs must be submitted in English. The position is also open to people with disabilities (PcD), in accordance with applicable Brazilian legislation.

• Professional growth: Opportunities to expand expertise in enterprise software engineering, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and AI-enabled product development.

• Collaborative international environment: Work alongside globally distributed engineering and product teams on complex technical challenges.

• Technical leadership opportunities: Influence architectural decisions, establish engineering standards, and mentor other developers.

• AI-driven innovation: Contribute to an environment where AI is integrated into product development, engineering workflows, and business problem-solving.

• Inclusive workplace culture: Join an organization that values diversity, equity, inclusion, and different perspectives, supported by employee resource groups and leadership engagement.

• Meaningful business impact: Help modernize tax compliance technology and build scalable solutions that support customers and complex business transactions.
