About this role
Accountabilities: • Lead high-impact 0-to-1 strategic projects that advance long-term organizational goals, including fundraising, growth strategies, new programs, and partnerships.
• Design and run validation experiments, assess results objectively, and develop recommendations on whether initiatives should be scaled, adapted, or discontinued.
• Serve as a trusted liaison for high-priority partners, donors, and external stakeholders, clearly communicating organizational goals, priorities, and vision.
• Evaluate potential partnerships and initiatives, assess their strategic fit and resource requirements, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
• Lead major growth partnerships from initial discussions through scoping, agreements, and pilot launches.
• Run the organization’s operating rhythm and ensure important decisions are translated into clear actions, ownership, and outcomes.
• Support critical organizational functions including HR, legal, finance, hiring processes, and people operations.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational workflows such as planning, hiring, and cross-functional processes, and implement scalable solutions.
• Plan and execute organizational retreats, including defining objectives, developing agendas, coordinating logistics, and ensuring effective follow-through.
• Work closely with leadership and teams across the organization to create clarity, maintain momentum, and resolve high-priority challenges.
• Represent the organization professionally with senior external stakeholders, partners, funders, and other members of the broader education ecosystem.
Requirements:
• At least 5 years of experience in a Chief of Staff, operations, strategy, or comparable role, including experience as a founder or early-stage operator, or experience in consulting, banking, or strategy combined with hands-on operating experience.
• Demonstrated experience taking a new program, product, partnership, or initiative from 0 to 1.
• Strong ability to operate in ambiguous environments, turn loosely defined and high-stakes problems into structured plans, and drive initiatives through to measurable outcomes.
• Experience working closely with executives and representing organizations in high-stakes external settings.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and credibly with executives, partners, funders, and internal teams.
• Ability to manage a broad range of priorities while maintaining attention to detail, execution quality, and deadlines.
• Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to establish trust across different functions, seniority levels, and external organizations.
• Sound judgment when managing people, priorities, confidential information, and sensitive situations.
• Strong ownership mentality, including the ability to identify gaps, take initiative, ask for support when appropriate, and follow through independently.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving, high-growth environment with evolving priorities.
• Availability to work within a U.S. time zone.
• Experience with fundraising, development, board relations, or donor relations is a plus.
• Experience in education, ed-tech, nonprofit, or another mission-driven organization is a plus.
