About this role
Accountabilities: • Investigate, diagnose, and resolve production issues across distributed microservices, tracing requests from user-facing APIs through services and external integrations.
• Support incident response by identifying root causes, implementing fixes, adding regression tests, and documenting findings to prevent recurrence.
• Develop and deliver enhancements to existing services, including certification program updates, scorecard and scoring changes, payment adjustments, and integration improvements.
• Maintain and extend the platform's layered service architecture, following established patterns and shared internal libraries across API gateways, business logic services, and external system adapters.
• Maintain integrations with third-party platforms covering performance data, CRM, ERP, payment processing, email, and cloud file storage.
• Write and update database migration scripts and investigate production data issues carefully, particularly when working with live data.
• Collaborate with QA and product teams to clarify expected behavior, reproduce issues, confirm requirements, and support testing and release verification.
• Improve production observability through structured logging, sensitive-data masking, and clearer system visibility.
• Participate in code reviews and keep technical documentation accurate and up to date as the platform evolves.
• Use AI coding agents to investigate, develop, and deliver solutions efficiently while validating generated code and maintaining engineering standards.
Requirements:
• Proven ability to take ownership of technical problems from initial bug reports or change requests through testing, deployment, and resolution.
• Production experience building and maintaining backend services with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Strong experience with NestJS or a comparable structured backend framework, including modules, controllers, services, dependency injection, and middleware.
• Solid understanding of REST and HTTP fundamentals, including service-to-service communication, API contracts, versioning, and error handling.
• Experience with relational databases, particularly writing and reviewing PostgreSQL queries and following safe database migration practices.
• Proven ability to debug distributed systems involving multiple services, using logs and metrics to identify root causes rather than symptoms.
• Sound technical judgment and risk awareness, especially when making changes involving payments, authentication, and live production data.
• Experience integrating third-party systems such as payment providers, CRM and ERP platforms, and identity providers through well-designed internal interfaces.
• Understanding of authentication and authorization patterns, including OAuth 2.0, JWT verification, single sign-on (SSO), and machine-to-machine authentication.
• Familiarity with agentic development and practical experience using AI coding agents to investigate, build, and ship software while carefully reviewing their output.
• Ability to write effective tests that validate fixes and prevent regressions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce clear status updates, incident reports, pull request descriptions, and actionable documentation.
Nice to have:
• Experience supporting a platform transitioning from active development to ongoing maintenance and enhancement.
• Familiarity with adapter patterns that isolate external integrations from core business logic.
• Experience with webhook-driven integrations, including signature verification, scoped service-to-service authorization, and safe handling of repeated inbound events.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and services deployed on major cloud platforms such as AWS.
• Experience with observability practices, including structured logging and sensitive-data masking.
Benefits:
• Fully remote work arrangement for candidates currently residing in Latin America.
• Full-time employment or B2B contract options.
• Opportunity to work on a live, business-critical microservices platform.
• Supportive team environment with a high degree of autonomy and ownership.
• Opportunity to use modern AI coding agents and contribute to evolving agentic development practices.
• Salary, healthcare coverage, and specific paid leave details are not specified in the job description.
