About this role
Accountabilities • Research and develop advanced state-estimation and navigation algorithms that enable resilient autonomy in challenging and GPS-denied environments.
• Design, implement, and deploy production-quality C++ software for embedded robotic systems operating in dynamic real-world conditions.
• Develop and maintain rigorous unit, integration, and system-level testing to validate system robustness, reliability, and safety.
• Build and improve modeling, calibration, and simulation tools supporting inertial and vision-based navigation systems.
• Design and implement estimation approaches such as Extended Kalman Filters (EKF), Unscented Kalman Filters (UKF), particle filters, and graph-based optimization.
• Contribute to the development and integration of visual-inertial odometry, SLAM, and multi-sensor fusion capabilities.
• Analyze system performance and develop benchmarking and validation processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Contribute to technical roadmaps, feature decomposition, planning, and agile execution alongside a multidisciplinary autonomy engineering team.
• Develop software and algorithms capable of meeting the latency, reliability, and computational requirements of embedded autonomous systems.
• Continuously improve performance analysis, benchmarking, simulation, and validation pipelines to accelerate development and innovation.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to translate navigation and estimation requirements into reliable production capabilities.
Requirements
• Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline with at least 2 years of relevant professional experience , or a newly completed Ph.D. in a related field.
• Professional proficiency in modern C++ (C++11 or newer) and strong object-oriented software design skills.
• Hands-on experience deploying low-latency C++ applications to embedded Linux platforms.
• Professional experience designing and implementing state-estimation algorithms, such as EKF, UKF, particle filters, or graph-based optimization.
• Familiarity with VIO, SLAM, or multi-sensor fusion frameworks such as GTSAM, Ceres, or OpenVINS .
• Strong understanding of CI pipelines and automated testing frameworks for C++ applications.
• Ability to independently develop and deploy high-reliability software suitable for real-world autonomous systems.
• Strong software engineering practices, including testing, debugging, performance analysis, and maintainable code design.
• Experience working with robotics, navigation, autonomy, or embedded systems is highly relevant.
• Python or MATLAB experience for prototyping is welcome, but professional C++ production deployment experience is essential.
• Deep understanding of graph-based optimization for state estimation is preferred.
• Experience developing vision-aided inertial navigation systems, including VINS, VIO, or Terrain Relative Navigation, is advantageous.
• Experience calibrating navigation sensors such as IMUs, GPS, barometers, magnetometers, laser altimeters, or cameras is preferred.
• Experience benchmarking and validating navigation performance on real-world systems is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently on technically complex challenges.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Benefits
• Annual salary range of $200,000–$300,000 , with final compensation influenced by skills, experience, certifications, and work location.
• Performance bonus opportunity.
• Equity package for eligible full-time employees.
• Comprehensive benefits package for eligible full-time employees.
• Remote work environment within the United States.
• Opportunity to work on advanced autonomy, state estimation, navigation, sensor fusion, and embedded robotics.
• Exposure to complex real-world challenges involving GPS-denied navigation and resilient autonomous systems.
• Collaboration with multidisciplinary engineers working across algorithms, software, robotics, and autonomous systems.
• Opportunity to transform advanced research and estimation algorithms into production-grade systems.
• Temporary employees may receive a temporary benefits package after 60 days, subject to applicable eligibility requirements.
• Offers are contingent upon a cleared background and, where applicable, reference checks.
• Equal employment opportunity and reasonable accommodation support.

About this listing
Published on Lever under the board identifier Jobgether, which is the name the employer’s own job board carries. RoleSprint has not verified the company’s registered or trading name, so it is shown exactly as published rather than tidied up.
RoleSprint is not the employer and not a recruiter. Applications are made on the employer’s own site and never reach us; what RoleSprint does is help you decide whether a role is worth your time and prepare for it if it is.
