About this role

Accountabilities: • Software testing and validation: Design, document, execute, and maintain manual, exploratory, regression, integration, end-to-end, smoke, and risk-based test cases across web applications, mobile platforms, APIs, and backend services.

• Develop and maintain structured testing strategies that support sprint delivery, comprehensive test coverage, release readiness, and ongoing production quality.

• Quality engineering and automation: Contribute to the evolution of scalable quality engineering practices by introducing repeatable testing approaches and automation where appropriate.

• Identify opportunities to reduce repetitive manual testing, strengthen regression coverage, improve documentation, and streamline quality processes across engineering teams.

• Cross-functional collaboration: Partner with Product Owners, Software Engineers, Operations, Clinical stakeholders, and Support teams to clarify requirements, assess testability, identify risks, investigate defects, and validate fixes.

• Participate throughout the software development lifecycle, raising concerns early and helping teams make informed decisions about product quality and deployment readiness.

• Healthcare workflow validation: Test essential digital healthcare processes, including patient registration, insurance information capture, payment processing, electronic medical record (EMR) integrations, messaging, and operational tools.

• Evaluate application functionality against real-world workflows and user expectations, identifying gaps between written acceptance criteria and practical business needs.

• Build a strong understanding of product behavior, data flows, integrations, and operational dependencies to identify edge cases and potential downstream impacts.

• Technical and accessibility testing: Perform API validation, cross-browser testing, accessibility and ADA-informed testing, integration testing, and end-to-end workflow validation using appropriate tools and methodologies.

• Apply test management practices, test data analysis, logs, repeatable checks, and pipeline quality gates to improve coverage, traceability, and confidence in software releases.

• Release readiness and continuous improvement: Support production readiness through critical workflow validation, defect resolution verification, risk communication, and go/no-go recommendations.

• Contribute to defect trend analysis, root cause investigations, quality metrics, test coverage reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Monitor quality risks and communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders to support timely and effective resolutions.

• Support and operational quality: Manage support tickets by investigating reported issues and providing clear, practical assistance to end users.

• Participate in on-call and occasional off-hours coverage when needed to support releases, production validation, and critical quality requirements.

• Promote a culture of shared quality ownership, collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning across product and engineering teams.

Requirements:

• Education: A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Healthcare Informatics, or a related discipline is preferred as a requirement. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may also be considered.

• Professional experience: At least three years of hands-on experience in manual, exploratory, regression, integration, API, web, mobile, or enterprise application testing, or equivalent demonstrated experience in software quality, engineering, automation, technical support, or product development.

• Software testing expertise: Demonstrated ability to develop thoughtful test plans, execute detailed manual validation, assess end-to-end workflows, identify risks early, investigate defects, and communicate findings effectively.

• Quality engineering practices: Experience with, or a strong interest in developing expertise in, test automation, API testing, CI/CD quality gates, regression strategy, accessibility testing, cross-browser validation, observability, and production defect prevention.

• Software development lifecycle: Experience working with Agile delivery teams and contributing to requirements clarification, story refinement, sprint execution, test coverage, release validation, and continuous delivery practices.

• Technical tools: Familiarity with tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, QMetry, BrowserStack, or comparable testing and project management platforms. The ability to apply sound quality principles is more important than experience with a particular tool.

• Healthcare technology knowledge: Experience in healthcare technology is preferred, particularly familiarity with urgent care operations, patient registration, electronic medical records, HL7 integrations, Epic, eClinicalWorks, payment workflows, or revenue cycle processes.

• Accessibility awareness: Understanding of accessibility standards, ADA considerations, inclusive design principles, and practical testing techniques for accessible web and mobile experiences is an advantage.

• Analytical and critical-thinking skills: Ability to connect technical behavior with business objectives, understand complex processes, evaluate potential impacts, investigate root causes, and identify issues beyond straightforward test scenarios.

• Communication and collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, sound professional judgment, and the ability to ask thoughtful questions, challenge assumptions constructively, and build productive relationships across departments.

• End-user focus: A commitment to validating software against real-world use cases and the needs of patients, providers, clinical staff, operations teams, and support personnel.

• Organization and accountability: Strong attention to detail, effective prioritization, and the ability to manage multiple testing activities while maintaining accurate documentation and reliable results.

• Adaptability and initiative: A proactive, curious mindset, with the ability to learn new systems quickly, navigate ambiguity, take ownership of quality outcomes, and recommend practical improvements.

• Preferred additional qualifications: Certifications or training in quality engineering, test automation, accessibility, cloud technologies, healthcare technology, or security are beneficial.

• Work environment: Ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment, collaborate across distributed teams, and participate in occasional travel, generally once or twice per year and up to 5%.

• Additional requirements: The role may involve occasional on-call or off-hours coverage. Some activities may require standard office-based physical tasks, including lifting or carrying materials weighing up to 25 pounds, and the use of appropriate safety equipment when necessary.

Benefits:

• Competitive annual salary: $83,500–$114,858, depending on experience, skills, education, geographic location, and other relevant business factors.

• Fully remote work: The opportunity to work remotely within the United States.

• Professional development: Opportunities to strengthen technical expertise in quality engineering, test automation, software delivery, accessibility, and healthcare technology.

• Cross-functional collaboration: Work alongside Product, Engineering, Clinical, Operations, and Support professionals to improve software quality and delivery outcomes.

• Meaningful impact: Contribute to reliable digital healthcare solutions that support patients, providers, and urgent care operations.

• Innovation and continuous improvement: Help shape evolving quality engineering practices, improve testing efficiency, and influence how software quality is integrated into the development lifecycle.

• Collaborative workplace culture: An emphasis on teamwork, accountability, innovation, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and respect.

• Occasional business travel: Limited travel opportunities for team meetings, training, site visits, market launches, and other business needs, typically up to 5%.
