About this role
Accountabilities: • Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and reliable backend services aligned with evolving product and business requirements.
• Lead technical research, architecture design, and implementation of backend services and new functionality.
• Design solutions for high-load distributed systems while balancing performance, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Work with synchronous and asynchronous service communication, including gRPC and message brokers, while considering delivery guarantees, idempotency, and load-balancing trade-offs.
• Design and optimize data models, database schemas, queries, indexes, replication, partitioning, and other scaling strategies.
• Implement and maintain caching strategies and distributed caching solutions using technologies such as Redis.
• Own backend services throughout their production lifecycle, including deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
• Establish and maintain observability capabilities covering metrics, logging, dashboards, distributed tracing, alerting, and Go profiling.
• Participate actively in code reviews and architectural discussions while helping improve the overall technical quality of backend services.
• Collaborate with engineers and other teams to deliver cohesive and effective technical solutions.
• Mentor and guide other engineers, sharing best practices and promoting high standards for software development.
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code supported by appropriate unit and integration test coverage.
Requirements:
• 5+ years of commercial backend engineering experience in production environments.
• Strong professional experience with Go, including concurrency, synchronization primitives, context propagation, goroutine lifecycle management, and graceful shutdown patterns.
• Proven experience building and supporting high-load distributed systems.
• Recent experience developing products with complex business logic and frequently evolving requirements.
• Strong SQL and data modeling skills, including schema design, joins, aggregations, composite indexes, data type selection, query analysis, replication, partitioning, and sharding.
• Hands-on experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Strong understanding of caching strategies, including Redis, cache-aside patterns, cache warm-up, and background refresh.
• Experience with synchronous and asynchronous inter-service communication, including gRPC and message brokers, delivery guarantees, idempotency, and load-balancing considerations.
• Deep understanding of microservice architecture patterns, client-server interactions, and their respective trade-offs and limitations.
• Hands-on experience with observability practices, including metrics, logging, distributed tracing, alerting, and Go profiling with pprof.
• Understanding of non-functional requirements, including SLA, SLO, and SLI concepts.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms.
• Strong commitment to writing maintainable, testable code with solid unit and integration test coverage.
• Proficiency with Git and modern code review workflows.
• Ability to explain architecture and technical decisions at different levels of depth.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to turn ambiguous requirements into clear solutions and actionable workloads.
• Experience with event-driven architectures using Kafka, NATS, RabbitMQ, or similar technologies is a plus.
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools, advanced Go performance optimization using pprof and trace, and AI-assisted development tools is beneficial.
• Intermediate English proficiency, with the ability to communicate effectively during regular client interactions.
• Ability to work as a B2B contractor in the country of current residence.
Benefits:
• Fully remote contract position.
• B2B contract structure with one contract and one monthly invoice.
• Rate negotiated according to seniority and client budget.
• Monthly payment aligned with the client payment schedule, typically within 30 days.
• Contract governed by the applicable laws of your country of residence.
• Administrative support for client-side documentation, including MSA, NDA, and invoicing.
• Opportunity to work on a large-scale mobility and urban services product.
• Exposure to high-load distributed systems, modern cloud infrastructure, Go, Kubernetes, Redis, and SQL.
• Opportunity to contribute to architecture, technical standards, observability, and engineering best practices.
• Collaboration with distributed engineering teams in a product-focused environment.
