About this role

Accountabilities: • Collaborate with globally distributed teams to implement and strengthen Financial Crimes programs covering CIP/KYC, AML, anti-fraud, and fraud monitoring initiatives.

• Investigate potentially suspicious activity arising from transaction monitoring alerts, escalations, and referrals, and complete investigations within established deadlines and SLAs.

• Screen individuals, entities, and transactions against OFAC, global sanctions, PEP, enforcement, and adverse media watchlists, assessing and documenting potential matches.

• Review and respond to time-sensitive escalations, FinCEN 314(a) and 314(b) requests, law enforcement inquiries, and other regulatory requests.

• Prepare clear, accurate, and timely SAR recommendations and narratives for management review and support the filing of approved SARs with FinCEN.

• Conduct comprehensive CIP/KYC, CDD, and EDD reviews, including assessment of source of funds, source of wealth, occupation, expected activity, and customer purpose.

• Review and disposition AML, sanctions, and securities-surveillance alerts from initial assessment through final resolution.

• Maintain thorough, defensible audit trails covering investigations, alert dispositions, and compliance decisions.

• Support enhancements to transaction monitoring rules, policies, procedures, controls, and risk frameworks.

• Identify and escalate critical risks, emerging trends, financial crime typologies, and compliance gaps to management.

• Partner with internal stakeholders during risk assessments, remediation activities, external audits, examinations, and regulatory engagements.

• Maintain current knowledge of regulatory developments, financial crime red flags, trading behaviors, and regulatory expectations relevant to the business.

• Assist with due diligence and ongoing monitoring of introducing brokers, omnibus partners, correspondents, and other intermediaries.

• Contribute to process improvements and identify opportunities to leverage automation and AI tools to improve compliance efficiency.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in Financial Crime or AML investigations, particularly AML alert investigations involving retail, institutional, or foreign financial firms.

• Strong understanding of U.S. regulatory requirements, including BSA/AML, the USA PATRIOT Act, and applicable SEC and FINRA regulations.

• Familiarity with trading activity and financial crime typologies such as spoofing, layering, wash trading, front-running, insider trading, deposit and withdrawal fraud, account takeover, transfer fraud, and manipulative order behavior.

• Demonstrated ability to identify unusual activity, exercise sound judgment, escalate risks appropriately, and document investigations in a clear, concise, and audit-ready manner.

• Strong investigative writing skills, including experience preparing case narratives and SAR recommendations.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.

• Experience working with transaction-monitoring, sanctions-screening, case-management, fraud-monitoring, or securities-surveillance systems.

• Experience conducting open-source intelligence research and evaluating public records, adverse media, corporate information, and other investigative sources.

• Working knowledge of domestic and international payment systems.

• Ability to work independently and adapt effectively to a rapidly changing business and regulatory environment.

• Ability and willingness to work hours providing meaningful overlap with U.S. Eastern Time, generally 4:00 p.m.–8:30 p.m. IST, subject to U.S. daylight saving time adjustments.

• Familiarity with the FinTech broker-dealer environment is an advantage.

• Experience with U.S.-registered broker/dealer or correspondent clearing firms is a plus.

• Familiarity with transaction alerting platforms such as riskCanvas or Genpact is desirable.

• Experience working within remote or globally distributed teams is advantageous.

• Experience investigating U.S. ACH, wire, brokerage transfer, ACATS, digital-asset, or cross-border payment activity is a plus.

• CAMS, CFCS, CFE, or another relevant AML, fraud, or financial crime certification is preferred.

• Ability to identify automation opportunities and responsibly leverage AI tools to enhance efficiency is desirable.
