About this role

Accountabilities: • Engineering Strategy and Delivery: Own the delivery roadmap for compliance services, internal platform APIs, and operational tooling. Partner with senior and principal engineers to translate long-term technical strategies into actionable quarterly plans, milestones, and measurable outcomes.

• AI-Driven Engineering: Champion the adoption of AI coding assistants and large language model (LLM)-powered tools, such as GitHub Copilot and Claude. Establish AI-augmented development practices, evaluate their impact on productivity and software quality, and encourage experimentation in a supportive environment.

• Operational Excellence: Take ownership of system reliability, security, incident response, on-call practices, and service-level objectives (SLOs). Make informed decisions that balance delivery speed, engineering quality, operational stability, and risk.

• Customer-Centric Platform Development: Work with Product Management to deliver intuitive, developer-friendly compliance experiences for external customers. Engage internal engineering teams to understand their needs, gather feedback, and continuously improve the APIs, services, and operational tools they depend on.

• People Management and Development: Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing engineering team. Establish a culture of psychological safety, accountability, inclusion, candid feedback, and continuous learning. Coach engineers at different career stages, support career progression, and help team members grow into greater technical and leadership responsibilities.

• Prioritization and Resource Planning: Balance competing demands across customer-facing features, internal platform capabilities, and operational tooling. Establish clear prioritization frameworks, communicate trade-offs, and allocate resources to initiatives with the greatest business and customer impact.

• Communication and Documentation: Clearly communicate engineering strategy, delivery progress, risks, and decisions to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders. Develop team plans, technical decision documents, and post-incident reviews that promote transparency and alignment.

• Stakeholder Collaboration: Serve as the primary point of contact between the compliance engineering team and its stakeholders. Manage relationships across Product Management, customer-facing functions, operations, and internal engineering teams while aligning expectations and maintaining visibility into roadmap commitments.

• Ethical Leadership: Lead with integrity and accountability, encouraging team members to raise concerns, identify problems early, challenge existing approaches, and uphold high standards of professional conduct.

Requirements:

• Professional Experience: At least 15 years of software engineering experience, including a minimum of 5 years in engineering management. Demonstrated experience leading teams of 10 or more engineers and directly managing individual contributors.

• Technical Expertise: Strong background in designing, reviewing, and operating highly available, cloud-native distributed systems. Ability to engage in architectural discussions, evaluate technical proposals, and provide informed guidance without needing to write code daily.

• Cloud and Infrastructure Knowledge: Deep familiarity with AWS services and ecosystems, including Lambda, EKS, DynamoDB, and Kafka, as well as microservices architectures, Kubernetes, Terraform, and infrastructure-as-code practices.

• AI Adoption and Innovation: Demonstrated experience introducing AI-powered development tools and workflows within engineering teams, with a clear understanding of how these technologies can improve productivity, delivery speed, and software quality.

• Delivery and Execution: Proven track record of delivering complex software products reliably and on schedule. Experience with agile methodologies and data-driven approaches to measuring engineering productivity, delivery performance, and team health.

• People Leadership: Experience building and managing diverse, inclusive, high-performing engineering teams. Familiarity with career frameworks, performance management, coaching, and developing engineers from mid-level through staff-plus positions.

• Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical strategies, risks, and trade-offs clearly to engineering leadership, cross-functional stakeholders, and direct reports.

• Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to build productive relationships across multiple stakeholder groups, navigate competing priorities, and balance external customer commitments with internal platform requirements.

• Operational Rigor: Experience managing mission-critical services, including incident response, on-call rotations, reliability improvements, and SLO-driven operational practices.

• Platform and Tooling Leadership: Experience leading teams that build internal platforms, developer-facing services, or operational tooling for other engineering teams is highly desirable.

• Team Scaling and Adaptability: Experience growing and evolving teams through organizational change, onboarding new engineers, improving team processes, and navigating ambiguity.

• Work Location and Travel: Ability to work remotely from eligible locations in India, including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Maharashtra, and New Delhi. Occasional travel may be required for team gatherings, project meetings, customer engagements, or functional off-sites.

Benefits:

• Competitive compensation aligned with the role, experience, and local market.

• Comprehensive healthcare benefits, with specific offerings depending on location.

• Generous paid time off to support rest, personal commitments, and work-life balance.

• Parental leave and wellness leave.

• Retirement savings programs.

• Remote-first work arrangements, with occasional in-person attendance for team gatherings, functional off-sites, or customer meetings.

• Opportunities to contribute to volunteering initiatives and charitable donations that support positive community impact.

• A globally collaborative and inclusive working environment that values diverse perspectives, professional development, and innovation.

• The opportunity to lead impactful engineering initiatives, influence technical strategy, and advance the use of AI in modern software development.
