About this role
Accountabilities: • Perform financial analysis to support decision-making, effective program management, and operational planning.
• Track and monitor grant-purchased assets, grant-constructed assets, and development projects.
• Monitor procurement, sub-recipient requirements, and other grant and contract compliance obligations.
• Review and monitor policies and procedures to ensure alignment with applicable federal and state requirements.
• Prepare financial reports, analyses, grant and contract reports, and internal financial status updates for program managers and external stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with audit and reporting requirements and prepare grant and contract summaries for audits.
• Develop budgets and financial projections for grants and contracts.
• Participate in grant implementation meetings and provide financial and administrative guidance.
• Identify and process reclassifications and journal entries when required for grant cost centers.
• Collaborate with other departments to resolve grant-related financial, reporting, and compliance issues.
• Stay current with evolving practices, regulations, and standards related to grants and financial management.
• Take on additional responsibilities and assignments as required.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, or a related field preferred, with 5+ years of relevant experience including grants or contracts management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3+ years of experience working in a mid-market organization, preferably within the nonprofit healthcare sector.
• Experience coordinating or preparing grants and contracts, including federal contracting and grant compliance requirements.
• Knowledge of subcontractor management and conflict-of-interest requirements is preferred.
• Experience working with confidential information and drafting or editing policies, procedures, reports, and proposals.
• Strong knowledge of automated accounting systems and financial reporting tools.
• Well-developed financial analysis skills and knowledge of GAAP and current accounting practices.
• Knowledge of Connecticut State Cost Standards and/or federal Uniform Grant Guidance standards.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, and common Microsoft Office applications, including Word and PowerPoint; familiarity with Adobe and Microsoft Access is also beneficial.
• Strong analytical, reasoning, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Exceptional organization, prioritization, attention to detail, and accuracy, with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with project management tools for creating and tracking timelines.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous quality improvement and the ability to quickly learn and apply new skills and techniques.
• Professional, collaborative, organized, and approachable working style.
• Must reside in Connecticut, Massachusetts, or Rhode Island.
