Backend Engineer – Python, AWS & GenAI

Accountabilities • Design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems using Python and frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.

• Develop backend services supporting document retrieval, processing pipelines, and AI/GenAI workflows.

• Design and implement reliable APIs that integrate AI models, vector databases, embedding services, and other internal or external systems.

• Build reusable Python components and services that integrate effectively with AWS infrastructure.

• Develop and maintain containerized applications using Docker and modern deployment practices.

• Implement asynchronous processing and distributed system components to support scalable and reliable backend operations.

• Build and maintain logging, metrics, tracing, and internal monitoring tools to track system performance and reliability.

• Write clean, maintainable, testable, and reusable code, ensuring clear separation between business logic and infrastructure.

• Contribute to backend architecture, technical design, and engineering decisions.

• Take end-to-end ownership of backend systems, including development, deployment, monitoring, optimization, and long-term maintenance.

• Identify and resolve complex technical issues while continuously improving system performance, scalability, and reliability.

Requirements:

• 4–8 years of professional experience in software engineering, with strong hands-on expertise in Python backend development.

• Practical experience with Python backend frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.

• Proven ability to design and develop scalable APIs and backend services.

• Exposure to AI/ML or Generative AI applications, including model integrations, vector databases, embeddings, or document-processing systems.

• Hands-on experience working with AWS services and cloud-based infrastructure.

• Experience using Docker and modern deployment pipelines.

• Familiarity with distributed systems, asynchronous processing, and service-to-service communication.

• Understanding of functional programming concepts and maintainable software design principles.

• Ability to write clean, reusable, and testable code.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and take ownership of technical challenges.

• Professional-level English communication skills.

• Applicants must currently be based in Brazil.
