ABOUT UNITX
UnitX is building the AI-powered eyes and brain for autonomous manufacturing. Our machine-vision platform helps manufacturers detect complex defects, automate inspection, and improve production quality in applications where conventional vision systems fall short.
We are expanding into emerging, high-growth markets—including AI data-center infrastructure and next-generation AI hardware—and are looking for a business development leader to help establish UnitX as a strategic partner to the companies defining these industries.
ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for a hands-on Mechatronics Engineer to design and build robotics prototypes and 3D vision products for industrial applications.
You will work across mechanical design, electromechanical integration, sensors, motion systems, and prototyping, turning early concepts into functional and reliable systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and build robotics prototypes, including mechanisms, fixtures, end effectors, electrical, pneumatics, and sensor integration.
- Design mechanical and electromechanical components for 3D vision products.
- Integrate robots, motors, actuators, sensors, cameras, and control hardware.
- Rapidly prototype, test, and iterate on new product concepts.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and system-level issues.
- Design for performance, reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, and cost.
- Select and work with vendors and manufacturers to procure and fabricate components
- Work closely with robotics, vision, AI, software, and hardware teams.
- Support transition from prototype to engineering validation and production.
QUALIFICATIONS
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or related field.
- 3+ years of hands-on electromechanical or robotics product development experience.
- Strong mechanical design and CAD skills.
- Experience with motors, actuators, sensors, mechanisms, and motion systems.
- Strong prototyping, assembly, testing, and debugging skills.
- Ability to work across mechanical, electrical, and software boundaries.
- Strong ownership and ability to independently turn concepts into working prototypes.
PREFERRED
- Robotics, industrial automation, or machine vision experience.
- Experience integrating industrial robots or collaborative robots.
- Experience with 3D cameras, structured light, stereo vision, LiDAR, or other 3D sensing technologies.
- Experience with GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFM/DFA, and prototype-to-production development.
- Experience with control theory for robotic arms and object tracking.
WHY JOIN UNITX
This role offers the opportunity to accelerate human productivity through robotics in manufacturing. You get to define how a differentiated AI-vision platform enters some of the world’s fastest-growing and most strategically important manufacturing markets. You will work directly with company leadership, influence product and market strategy, and build relationships that can become significant global accounts.
