About this role
About Treeswift:
In the face of rising threats, increasing pressure on affordability, and unprecedented demand for power, Treeswift empowers energy companies to modernize their field work to meet the growth and challenges ahead.
We build physical AI for the field worker: whether on foot or in a vehicle, our technology is an ironman suit for engineers, linemen, and vegetation crews: same worker, same boots on the ground, now operating at 10x productivity. Our platform is powered by cutting edge hardware, sensors (LiDAR, camera, etc…), AI and software designed to revolutionize work in the toughest environments.
Our technology has enabled our customers to reduce wildfire risk, regulatory and outage risk from vegetation, avoid delays and cost overruns in new construction, and accelerate recovery from severe storms.
To tackle this challenge, we are bringing together a team of mission-driven experts with deep industry experience in robotics (Penn, Caltech, CMU) and enterprise software development (Palantir, Stripe, Oracle, MongoDB). We have raised funding from leading investors including Penny Pritzker’s Inspired Capital.
We are headquartered in midtown Manhattan, with additional offices in San Francisco and Philadelphia.
Our growth is only accelerating. We’re looking for deeply curious and highly ambitious people who want to have a real world impact. Come build the future of (field) work with us.
About the role
The forward deployed engineering role focuses on implementing and integrating our technology into customer operations; in this role you will –
- Embed with our customers to deeply understand their challenges, how our technology can support them and where gaps exist. You will frequently meet the customer at their location to see their field and office workflows in-person.
- Deploy our product at our customers. This includes gathering necessary inputs to configure the platform, generating logins etc…. You may support and/or lead ead training for users on Treeswift’s tools and you will be the first point of contact for support and product feedback.
- Support integrations with customer data systems. We are often asked to push our data into existing customer systems. This starts by mapping our data into the target system schema. Our first integration may be a one-off data dump, but you will also support establishing more robust operational pipelines (i.e. API integration).
- Extend the platform where gaps exist to meet customer needs.. This might range from writing python models for new business logic, contributing new features to our Web Application or larger product initiatives. Sometimes these contributions will be MVPs to move quickly and sometimes they will be fully fledged features reviewed by our core engineering team, that will then be deployed to all customers.
- Completing analyses to support our customers in understanding and trusting our data. This includes everything from one-off reports to comparisons between Treeswift data and customer data.
Experience / Skills
- 4+ years of professional experience
- Demonstrated comfort with ambiguity and excitement to work in an extremely high-autonomy role in an early stage environment.
- Excellent communicator across a wide breadth of stakeholders. You are comfortable giving a training to a large group of users one-minute and preparing a presentation for a room full of executives the next.
- Experience in a highly technical environment, such as software development, robotics, engineering or finance. You are comfortable coding in python and contributing to web application development, as well as quickly coming up to speed on new technical concepts.
- Nice-to-have, but not required
- More extensive technical experience with data pipelines, embedded systems or machine learning
- Prior experience at a SaaS software company
- Prior experience working with utilities, energy sector or other sectors with a large field work or industrial component
