Tax Advisory - M&A State and Local Tax Manager

We are seeking an experienced Manager to join our Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) State and Local Tax (SALT) practice. This role focuses on advising private equity firms, corporate acquirers, and privately held businesses through all phases of the transaction lifecycle, including buy-side and sell-side due diligence, tax structuring, transaction planning, and post-close integration. The ideal candidate combines strong technical state and local tax knowledge with project management skills and the ability to build trusted client relationships.

Who You Are:

- CPA, JD, MST, or equivalent professional credential preferred.

- 5+ years of progressive experience in State and Local Tax, including meaningful M&A due diligence experience.

- Experience in public accounting, consulting, or a transaction advisory practice.

- Strong technical knowledge across multiple state and local tax disciplines.

- Experience managing multiple client engagements and deadlines simultaneously.

- Strong written communication skills with experience preparing client-ready reports.

- Ability to manage multiple engagements in a team environment.

- Thrive in an ever-changing, dynamic work environment and readily identify problems and instinctively look for solutions.

- Enjoy participating in internal and external company initiatives such as community service, training, recruiting, and firm events.

- Ability and desire to travel as needed.

- You are willing and able to travel as needed to meet client and business needs, as travel is an expected part of this role.

- Taxability studies

- Transaction structuring

- Pre-sale readiness assessments

- Tax process improvement and compliance optimization
