During your internship at Reflect Orbital you will be given as much responsibility as our full-time team-members. You work will contribute to directly to the success of our flying constellation.
Ideal candidates for internships will be comfortable facing challenges with no known solution, willing to be hands-on individual contributors, and able to commit to a minimum of 12 weeks in-person at our Hawthorne, CA office. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work on a focused piece of our guidance, navigation, and control stack, in simulation, in flight software, or both.
- Build complete tools and test setups, with an emphasis on fully completing and shipping your work.
- Get hands on with our flatsat, integrating and debugging components on real avionics.
- Own an open question, whether that's a sensor trade, an orbit study, or a failure mode nobody has characterized yet, and document your findings so the team can build on them.
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS
- You are able to work full-time onsite
- You are enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master’s degree program from an accredited college or university in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related engineering field
- Understanding of fundamentals in the fields of orbital mechanics, spacecraft attitude dynamics, control systems and state estimation/sequential filtering
- Familiarity with ADCS components such as star trackers, IMU's, reaction wheels, CMG's, RCS, etc
- Proficiency in mathematical modeling and simulation software, including numerical methods
- Proficiency in Python, C/C++ or Rust code development
- Application of technical skills outside of the classroom (examples include: extracurricular projects, volunteering, personal projects, laboratory research, or prior internship/work experience)
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a professional team environment
- Eagerness to learn and adapt in a dynamic startup environment
