About this role
ACCOUNT MANAGER
WHO WE ARE:
Pathpoint is the full-service E&S wholesaler that combines smart technology and expert E&S guidance to give brokers and agents unprecedented visibility and control. Traditional wholesalers offer market access without technology. Insurtech platforms offer technology without expert guidance. We do both: an in-house team of specialized E&S experts engaged at every step, paired with technology that automates the end-to-end process. Since we started trading in 2021, broad market access has helped thousands of brokers grow into bigger accounts and broader books, and we are just getting started (learn more https://www.pathpoint.com/about).
We are looking for an Account Manager to own and grow a sales territory. This is a production role first: your job is to generate written premium. You will run the territory like it is yours, setting the plan, building the pipeline, and knowing every agency worth knowing in your market. You also start with the groundwork already laid. Your territory comes with proven agency partners whose business you will grow first, and a qualified set of high-potential agencies to prospect second. You are not building a distribution network from scratch; you are compounding one into a durable, building book of business.
Pathpoint is entering a new phase: mature growth and expanding into more territories and markets than we have ever covered. We are looking for great E&S experts who want to be part of that. You will carry a written premium target and have the autonomy to decide how you hit it. If you know E&S and you want a territory to build rather than a desk to cover, this is that role.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
- 3+ years in a quota-carrying or production role in commercial P&C, with E&S exposure through carriers, wholesalers, intermediaries, or retail brokerages
- A track record of opening new relationships from a cold start, not just servicing existing ones. You can point to agencies you found, appointed, and grew
- Direct experience in the MGA, programs, or E&S binding authority space
- Comfort running a full sales cycle: territory planning, prospecting, discovery, pipeline management, and the follow-through that turns a first submission into steady flow
- Proven ability to lead sales conversations with principals and senior producers at retail agencies
- Strong written and verbal communication, and the judgment to know which one a situation calls for
- An internal drive to be the top performer, and an entrepreneurial mindset that keeps the goal in sight while solving whatever is in the way
- Experience with Salesforce, Slack, Notion, Ascend, or Retool is a plus but not a requirement
- An active P&C producer license in your state of residence is strongly preferred. New hires without one will be expected to obtain it within six months of joining, with support and funding from Pathpoint
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Own your territory. Build and execute the plan for your region: which agencies to go after, which to grow, and where the premium will come from. You own the number and the path to it
- Grow your top partners. Be the primary point of contact for the agencies already producing in your region. Deepen those relationships through appetite guidance, product education, and proactive outreach, and run QBRs with your key agency partners
- Prospect the agencies with the most potential. Identify and qualify the retail agencies in your territory most likely to produce, through outreach, referrals, industry events, and your own network. Move them from first conversation to appointed and submitting
- Run your pipeline. Keep an accurate, current view of every opportunity in Salesforce, forecast honestly, and manage the activity that drives the result rather than waiting on it
- Be the expert in the room. Know your market, your carriers, and your appetite well enough that agents call you before they call anyone else. Use product knowledge as a selling tool, not a support function
- Bring the market back to us. Partner with underwriting, operations, marketing, and product to relay what you are hearing in the field, so appetite, product, and experience keep pace with what your agents need
- Grow Pathpoint's footprint. Every agency you appoint and every account you help place moves the company toward its growth goals. Your territory is a direct line to that
WHAT WE OFFER:
- Insurance coverage fit for an insurance company – with some plans at no cost to you
- Competitive compensation, equity, and total rewards
- 401(k) with a 2% bi-weekly employer match
- 20-days of PTO (increased to 25-days after 2-years)
- Professional development opportunities
- Remote-first working environment with investments in in-person collaboration
- Annual $500 home office stipend
- Monthly $75 internet stipend
- Generous paid parental leave
- An insurance partner offering unique opportunities for professional growth
Compensation:
The expected base salary for the position at the start of employment is between $103-123,000. This position is eligible for variable compensation based on territory goals and performance, with expected on-target earnings of between $159-189,000 if 100% of goals are achieved. Attainment beyond 100% of goals is rewarded with generous accelerated earnings.
Actual compensation is based on factors such as, but not limited to, applicable job experience, skills, and qualifications. Salary is just one component of Pathpoint's Total Rewards package, which includes equity grants and generous employee benefits fitting of an insurance company.
