What you should know about SKELAR

SKELAR is a venture builder — in other words, a company that builds companies. Together with founders, we create consumer businesses that become leaders in global markets across EdTech, Mental Health, Petcare, FashionTech, and other industries.

SKELAR teams build tech products that receive recognition from Product Hunt and The Webby Awards, as well as thousands of positive reviews on Trustpilot. Overall, our businesses’ tech products are used by more than 10 million people worldwide.

All of this is made possible by strong teams, because our people are SKELAR’s greatest asset.

To help our people achieve their full professional potential, we have created an environment with deep expertise and limitless opportunities — and we are looking for those who are ready to take on new challenges.

We are looking for a Middle Legal Counsel focused on product and marketing compliance, data protection, IP, and regulatory compliance in the USA, EU, and UK.

As the SKELAR Legal Risks & Compliance team, we build the foundation that enables our businesses to scale quickly and with minimal risk. We handle compliance in numerous jurisdictions, resolve complex cases, and provide top-level legal partnership.

Your impact

In this role, you will:

- Identify and assess legal risks related to consumer protection, data privacy, and IP across key markets, including the USA, EU, and UK.

- Provide practical legal advice and solutions that protect SKELAR’s interests while supporting business objectives.

- Work closely with Marketing, Product, Engineering, and Finance teams on day-to-day legal and compliance matters.

- Support the development and implementation of compliance processes, policies, and internal guidelines.

- Assist businesses with regulatory inquiries, investigations, and dispute resolution.

- Monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments and help translate them into clear, practical guidance for the business.

- Work with senior lawyers and business stakeholders on complex legal matters and gradually take ownership of your areas of responsibility.

About you

- 3+ years of relevant legal experience in a top-tier law firm, Big 4, product or tech company.

- Law degree from a Ukrainian or foreign university.

- Fluent English.

- Practical experience in compliance, commercial, privacy, consumer protection, or other relevant areas of international law.

- Ability to identify legal risks and provide clear, practical, business-oriented advice.

- Comfortable working with different stakeholders and explaining complex legal matters in a simple and pragmatic way.

- Proactive, well-organized, attentive to detail, and willing to take ownership of tasks.

- Ability to work independently while knowing when to involve more senior colleagues or external counsel.

Will be a plus

- Experience with consumer protection laws in the USA and EU, including FTC Act, ROSCA, Omnibus Directive, etc.

- Understanding of GDPR, CCPA, and other data protection frameworks.

- Experience supporting product, marketing, or technology teams on legal and compliance matters.

- Experience with commercial and intellectual property matters in an international environment.

- Practical experience using AI tools for legal research, analysis, document review, or other legal workflows.

At SKELAR, we have built an environment where people can reach their full professional potential:

- SKELAR Platform. This is the operational core of our venture builder, helping founders move faster from zero to one. This allows business teams to focus on their products, while 10+ Platform teams cover Legal, Finance, HR, Admin, Talent Acquisition, Employer Branding, IT, and other functions.

- A culture of networking and knowledge sharing. Our colleagues include co-founders who have launched more than one business, as well as some of the strongest specialists in the market. This means we have access to the expertise we need — right at our fingertips.

- Exclusive domain-specific learning. We have created our own learning programs for teammates to choose from — from a two-month school for first-time managers to AI intensives and professional clubs in engineering, product management, and other fields.

- Making a systemic impact in supporting Ukraine. We have the SKELAR Foundation, a charitable foundation created by SKELAR teammates themselves. Together, we bring important social initiatives to life. For example, we launched the first veteran-focused accelerator in Europe https://veteranventure.skelar.tech/ and are building a platform to support veterans at the national level.

- An ecosystem designed for productive work. SKELAR teammates have access to inspiring spaces designed to help teams achieve results — including our own gym, climbing wall, Bali-inspired green areas, and libraries. With service, safety, and comfort aligned with the pace at which our teams grow, we create a truly great experience and work more effectively.

- Care for everyday comfort. Breakfasts and lunches, access to sports training in Kyiv or partial reimbursement for activities in Warsaw, health insurance, paid business trips when the role requires them, and corporate discounts from our partners.

We’ll tell you more during our introductory meeting.

Join us in building the next big everything at SKELAR!
