About this role
About Sequencing:
Sequencing is the world’s largest direct-to-consumer whole genome sequencing platform, helping define the future of AI-powered personalized health.
We’re a profitable, venture-backed, fully remote company building products that turn clinical-grade whole genome sequencing into meaningful, personalized insights. Through AI and a rapidly expanding ecosystem of genomic applications, we help people better understand their health and future.
The human genome is one of the most valuable and underutilized resources in the world. Our mission is to transform it into a lifelong source of personalized guidance – and build the trusted home for every genome on Earth.
Join us in helping build the interface between humanity and its DNA!
The opportunity
As Senior Product Manager, Consumer, you will own the roadmap for consumer-facing and subscription products and features, reporting directly to Product leadership and partnering with Engineering, Bioinformatics, Design, and Customer Success. You will plan and deliver experiences that make genomics approachable and useful for a broad consumer audience, with success measured by roadmap clarity, on-time delivery, consumer and subscriber adoption, and how effectively product changes address user pain points and improve satisfaction across the consumer journey.
What you'll own
- Own and maintain the end-to-end consumer product roadmap in Jira across web and app experiences, ensuring features, experiments, and enhancements are clearly scoped, prioritized, and progressing.
- Lead cross-functional discovery focused on consumer needs, turning insights from user feedback, analytics, and market signals into clear product plans and hypotheses.
- Write and maintain specs, user flows, acceptance criteria, and success metrics in Confluence and Jira for consumer journeys, onboarding, engagement, and retention features.
- Coordinate execution with Engineering, Bioinformatics, Design, and Customer Success on consumer initiatives, resolving blockers and aligning tradeoffs to timelines and goals.
- Monitor consumer feedback channels (Intercom, Reddit, surveys, escalations) and translate themes into roadmap priorities, iteration cycles, and usability improvements.
- Own backlog grooming for consumer workstreams, keeping Jira boards organized, statuses accurate, and dependencies visible.
- Partner with Design to ensure Figma prototypes and flows reflect consumer requirements, edge cases, and a clear, approachable UX for genomics.
- Define and track success metrics for consumer features, tying outcomes to engagement, conversion, and satisfaction.
- Champion a user-centric perspective in consumer planning, ensuring solutions address real user pain points and deliver measurable value.
- Drive disciplined use of Jira and Confluence as single sources of truth for consumer product documentation and plans.
Who you are
- 5+ years product management experience shipping consumer-facing SaaS, health tech, and eCommerce products end to end.
- Strong documentation and organizational skills for specs, timelines, and structured systems thinking across complex consumer journeys.
- Clear communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders on consumer initiatives.
- Facility with agile workflows and tools (Jira, Confluence), including backlog grooming, dependency mapping, and cross-team coordination.
- Comfort in technical discussions with engineers and bioinformatics teams, with a bias toward execution and user-centric thinking.
- Experience using qualitative and quantitative feedback to inform consumer product decisions, roadmaps, and iterative improvements.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously in early stage, startup, and unstructured environments, turning ambiguous consumer problems into clear plans and consistently shipping impactful work.
- Located in the US and experienced working in fully remote environments.
Why Sequencing?
For decades, the human genome has been one of the world’s richest sources of health information—but most people have never been able to truly understand or use it.
We’re changing that.
At Sequencing, we’re transforming billions of genetic variants, decades of scientific research, and constantly evolving genomic knowledge into technology people can interact with naturally and trust when making decisions about their health.
This isn’t about building another health application. It’s about creating an entirely new category of technology that brings together bioinformatics, genetics, and consumer health to improve and extend millions of lives.
Your work won’t just help build Sequencing—it will help redefine how people understand themselves through their DNA for decades to come.
