About this role
ABOUT MATTER INTELLIGENCE
Welcome to Matter, where we are building the future of vision AI: pairing a world-first sensor that sees molecular chemistry, temperature, and 3D shape with a Large World Model that will be the most powerful intelligence engine for the physical world. This system doesn't just see what something looks like; it understands everything from a single pixel. We call this Superintelligent Vision.
Our team has delivered technologies to Mars for NASA/JPL, designed advanced sensors for U.S. Defense, and frontier artificial intelligence systems. We are now building the next generation of space- and airborne-based sensing systems.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Matter is hiring an Electrical Architect to define and own the electrical architecture for advanced sensing payloads and supporting airborne and spaceborne systems. Reporting to Victor Moreno, this role will guide interfaces, power, signal integrity, design decisions, and technical reviews across the payload electronics stack.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define the end-to-end electrical architecture and maintain clear interfaces across payload subsystems.
- Lead trade studies and design decisions involving power distribution, signal integrity, data paths, grounding, and reliability.
- Establish design requirements, budgets, review criteria, and verification approaches with systems and engineering teams.
- Provide technical guidance through schematic design, board development, bring-up, integration, and test.
- Identify cross-system risks early and drive them to clear owners, decisions, and evidence-based closure.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED
- Experience architecting complex electrical systems that combine multiple boards, sensors, processors, power domains, and interfaces.
- Strong fundamentals in electronics, power, high-speed or sensitive signal paths, grounding, and hardware integration.
- Ability to lead technical reviews and communicate architectural tradeoffs across disciplines.
- Hands-on judgment informed by hardware development, bring-up, test, and failure investigation.
PREFERRED
- Experience with aerospace, defense, imaging, sensing, avionics, or other high-reliability hardware.
- Experience designing for constrained power, mass, thermal, electromagnetic, or environmental conditions.
- Familiarity with qualification, production transition, supplier coordination, and configuration control.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
- The payload has a coherent, documented electrical architecture with clear interfaces and margins.
- Cross-board and cross-subsystem risks are resolved before they become integration failures.
- Design reviews and verification evidence support confident progression into system test and flight readiness.
LOCATION
This role is based in El Segundo, CA, and requires onsite work.
ITAR REQUIREMENTS
To comply with U.S. export regulations, applicants must be one of the following:
- A U.S. citizen or national
- A lawful permanent resident (green card holder)
- Eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State

About this listing
Published on Ashby under the board identifier Matter Intelligence, which is the name the employer’s own job board carries. RoleSprint has not verified the company’s registered or trading name, so it is shown exactly as published rather than tidied up.
RoleSprint is not the employer and not a recruiter. Applications are made on the employer’s own site and never reach us; what RoleSprint does is help you decide whether a role is worth your time and prepare for it if it is.
