About this role

HI, WE’RE BACK MARKET.

We’re here to help make tech reliable, affordable, and better than new. We're a global marketplace for refurbished devices, helping lower our collective environmental impact by providing trustworthy, affordable tech with 92% less carbon emissions than new.

Yep, you read that right. Turns out refurbished tech is way better for the planet than new. In fact, With every device purchased on Back Market, our positive impact on the planet grows. From our Customer Care representatives to our software engineer, every individual at Back Market cuts the planet — and consumers — a break. Our mission is simple: to do more with what we already have.

Are you ready to join us?

Back Market is the leading global marketplace dedicated to refurbished tech. We give electronic devices a second life by connecting customers with professional refurbishers, making more sustainable technology accessible to everyone.

Trade-in enables customers to sell their used devices, including smartphones, tablets, gaming consoles and more to professional refurbishers through Back Market. It is an important part of our circularity strategy: it helps customers recover value from their devices while giving Sellers access to the supply they need to grow their refurbished business.

Trade-in is currently operated across several markets, including 4 EU countries, the UK and the US, with further country and category expansion planned. Operations cover many different operational areas including logistics, fraud, CRM, customer care, payments, catalog and more.

Trade-in Operations is a transversal scope covering the entire Trade-in journey, including payments, customer care, CRM, catalog, pricing, seller operations, logistics, fraud & more.

Our mission is to make sure that customers and sellers experience a smooth, reliable and efficient Trade-in service. This means understanding how the service works end to end, getting hands-on with operational issues, managing incidents, finding solutions and continuously improving the way we work.

You will work close to the day-to-day operations, executing processes and understanding where problems really occur. The objective is then to use data, automation, AI and process improvement to make these operations simpler, faster and more scalable.

YOUR MISSION (IF YOU ACCEPT IT): 🥇

1. Ensure smooth operations from day one

You will take ownership of operational processes and checks, making sure that important tasks are completed accurately and on time. This may include:

- Maintaining the Trade-in Catalog and product matching

- Monitoring pricing and identifying inconsistencies

- Supporting Seller limit adjustments and Seller reactivation processes

- Updating customer and agent-facing content

- Supporting transactional CRM communications

- Monitoring fraud-related processes

- Investigating operational issues and coordinating incident resolution

These activities are essential to understanding the service and building the expertise needed to improve it.

2. Improve operations and create measurable impact

You will identify opportunities to improve, simplify and automate processes:

- Analyse data to identify recurring issues and root causes

- Build or improve reports, dashboards, alerts and monitoring

- Simplify manual workflows and reduce unnecessary steps

- Prototype automation using available tools, AI and workflow platforms

- Improve incident detection and reduce resolution time

- Track the impact of your improvements on incident rates, manual effort, customer satisfaction and seller experiences

- Document processes and create reliable playbooks for the teams

- Contribute to the evaluation and improvement of our AI chatbot for customer support

The goal is to turn recurring operational work into measurable improvements, not simply to execute tasks more efficiently.

3. Enable Trade-in to scale

Trade-in plans to open additional countries and categories while continuing to improve its performance. We cannot rely on increasing operational resources in proportion to the business.

You will help prepare the service for this growth by:

- Standardising processes and making them easier to replicate

- Designing scalable workflows and controls

- Automating repetitive checks and actions

- Making operational knowledge easier to share across markets

- Helping ensure that new launches do not create an equivalent increase in manual work

Success in this role means helping Trade-in handle more volume, countries and categories with fewer incidents, faster resolution times, better customer and seller experiences, and less manual effort.

YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT PLACE IF: ⭐

- You are hands-on, curious and solutions-oriented

- You enjoy investigating problems and finding ways to make things work better

- You are comfortable starting with operational execution to understand how things work and using it as a foundation for improvement

- You are comfortable with spreadsheets and data extraction (SQL) and analysis

- You are curious about processes, automation, AI and tools such as Braze (CRM), Intercom (Customer Care), Zapier and Workato (automation), Tableau and Omni (data visualization)

- You communicate clearly in English, both in writing and verbally

- You want to see the concrete impact of your work on a real, 360 business scope
